Why has Mike Tyson become so underrated?

Tyson quit perhaps in the second Holyfield fight. He may have quit in his final fight too, with McBride. To generally classify him as a quitter is not fair. If Duran gets away with No Mas, Tyson shouldn't be too harshly penalized either. He took his beatings like a man, against Douglas and Holyfield I.

 

On here, i'd say he is, while Lennox is overrated. I am not sure that is the consensus everywhere.

Maybe, that can be chalked down to this being a british based site with many rabid Lennox supporters.

 

Even post-prison Tyson was still a very dangerous heavyweight.

 

I would say the majority of posters on here have not laced up the gloves in official combat.

However, most can offer some sort of objective ****ysis based on watching a plethora of fights over a great number of years.

Others, like foxy, wass and Swag hold deeply rooted over inflated opinions of their knowledge, while, at the same time, belittling the knowledge of anyone disagreeing with them on here.

Please don't judge all non-figting posters on here because of some biased drivel spewed by those three gentlemen.

morrison, tua, foreman, ruiz, rahman, byrd, bowe,mercer,moorer,cooper,etc.
i love mike, but his resume is thin.
and putting lennox above holyfield is also atrocious
holyfield's resume dwarfs both tyson's and lewis' resume.

Before going to prison, the only guys you mentioned who he could have fought were Cooper, Morrison, Mercer and Foreman. Tyson fought Ruddock, who was considered tougher than all four of them in '91 when Tyson fought him.

Post prison, he still would have had a good shot at stopping Morrison, Ruiz and Moorer.

Post prison he probably would have lost to Bowe and Mercer would have been very tough. Smart to avoid them. Anyway, Tyson was nowhere near his best in '95 when he got out of prison. King matched him smartly in setting up the Holyfield fight - which is the fight the public wanted.

Cooper and Tua were inferior versions of prime Tyson.

Tyson's heavyweight prime was earlier than all the guys you listed, except. of course the anomoly that was George Foreman, so of course he didn't fight a lot of them.

No because they could either adapt, or they had confidence in their own game plans. Tyson didn't, especially against Douglas, when he was only 23 and in his prime.

Of the ten guys you just listed, about 9 of them weren't even relevant to the time frame when he was at the top of the division.

 

For every so called " rabid " Lewis fan on this site, there are at least 20 Tyson freaks, and even more Pacturds. So that observation by you is meaningless.
