Yes apparently the existence of a fence meant Mikey Garcia and Omar Figueroa are somehow not American.

Despite being born there, raised there, and currently living there.

It sure does but enough of your trolling give intelligent answers to the thread or go hate on fences somewhere else

Right gotcha. Fences make people not from the country they're from. So logical.

If I wanted to deal in intelligent debate I wouldnt have clicked on one of your threads.

The US is not a boxing nation. Yeah, the 90's, or even earlier .. these fighters would be the same level as Jennings or Wilder these days. Since the fall of communism and the competition from East Europe, the influence of. East Europe in the West and several Asian countries, the US does not fit into this sport anymore. That's the reason that MMA has a huge fanbase there. The US will never come back to boxing.

It still has twice as many pro champions as any other country.

Lets not go totally writing them off just yet.

Number of entrants & talent pool?

Here in England a majority of the gyms will let you train and guide you into amateur competition and potentially tournaments if you so desire...Somehow I feel maybe that doesn't happen in America. Part of the problem being it such a large country with numerous states...there will be some states which have a strong heritage and continuing involvement in amateur boxing but I guess some just can't keep their foot in the door....high school & college competitive sports are the dominant over there.

People are shouting up about Mikey Garcia but the mofo has his dad who owns a gym and has prior involvement in boxing lol.

You just need the right kid(s) to step into the right gym at the right time...

Sure if you use all 800 Million Europeans, then Europe might have an equivalent number of champs.

Mate? How very British of you. The country you appear to dislike.

When America doesnt have twice the number of pro titlists as the next strongest country(Japan btw), then we can talk about decline.
