Why has there not been another Hagler/Hearns round one in 24 years?

Why has that round not been duplicated or come close to being duplicated, especially by top p4p fighters. Will there ever be a round one like that again between the two top p4p fighters again?

Well, probably because it was the best single rd in televised history or thereabouts & its virtually impossible to exactly replicate an entire 3 mins of fighting.

There have been rds almost as good, Morales-Barrera I rd 5, Gatti-Ward I rd 9 were 2 of them.

What round do you think has "dupilicated or come close to it" from the preceeding one-hundred years?

    There's a best of everything.

Torres-Holt 2 was better then Hagler-Hearns...but neither were top P4P fighters though

but Vasquez-Marquez trilogy, both top P4P fighters, and the fights were better then Hagler-Hearns

honestly Hagler-Hearns is overrated, great fight, but not the best i've ever seen

Sorry, but i've seen loads of fights with rounds compareable and even better than round 1 of Hagler vs Hearns.

This fight also gets over-rated imo.

Because most top fighters fight more patiently than that.

Hell, those two guys rarely fought like that either. Hagler usually boxed patiently and Hearns usually didn't fire with that sort of reckless abandon, as even his early KOs over the likes of Cuevas and Hearns were more deliberate and set up.

Floyd vs De La Hoya round 4. Not quite there, but it was close.

A lot of the people who rate Hagler-Hearns so highly are taking into the account the magnitude of the event, the caliber of the fighters, and witnessed it live.

    That plays a part.

There's a fairly good number of fights, with lesser (but still excellent) quality fighters, that are better for action and drama than Hagler-Hearns.

How about naming a few - because I would love to check them out. Few fights start as explosively in the first few seconds. There's almost always a feeling out round before the action starts.

I think he meant any rounds regardless of number, but here are some other great round 1s.

    Michael Moorer-Bert Cooper
    Ray Mancini-Arturo Frias
    Joe Frazier-Jerry Quarry 1
    Kendall Holt-Ricardo Torres 2
    Juan Meza-Jaime Garza
