Even today, instead of fighting Briggs who is a more legitimate threat than Peter, he fought Peter AGAIN.

Peter was his MANDATORY, for the WBO. Briggs is not even in the top 15 in the WBO or IBF. Fight Peter or be stripped.

    Yep.

HENDO: If Briggs would have win against Ibragimov, he would have been Wlad's opponent. So it's Briggs own fault he hasn't faced Wladimir.

Maybe because Briggs lost to Ibragimov, so Wlad unified against Iggy rather than against Briggs?

You have asked this question 10x already, and 10x you get the same answer. Do you ever "get it" or are you a slow learner?

Shannon can be happy that he now gets the shot at Vitali.

And thats only because we have Duckin' Season!

The same reason he always ducked Oleg Maskaev, Fres Oquendo, Tye Fields and such... They never made it onto the contenders list during his reign :good

The situation would be that Briggs was in no way deserved the fight. He fought only in the middle level, or less level fighters. The only good profits for years was Liakhovic and he lost best fight against Ibragimov

    Tssssss here we go again!!

If Wlad fights him, they'll say Briggs is undeserving, fought 3 nobodies to earn a titleshot...
If Wlad doesn't fight him, they'll say he's ducking him, c'mon... get a little bit serious will you??

Fighting Briggs high(ish) risk, no reward. Briggs has that wild card chance against anyone with out a decent chin. (ie Wlad)
Brigss has decent size and a big somewhat quick punch. Style wise he could very well put Wlad down and out. I'm not saying he's likely too, but he has a better chance at it then most of the other bums around today. Briggs loses to guys due to his crap stamina. So it's unlikely that Briggs can work his way to become a mandatory because he loses to even a suckish fighter with a decent chin who can outwork him.

So beating Briggs brings no accolades, and since Wlad can sell out a German Arena vs anyone, and does not do PPV, it means that no opponent offers a financial incentive for him either.

OK, I didn't even know Briggs has even been a serious contender.

4 years ago he stepped up against Liakovich and Ibragimov andeeked out a win about 1 minute before what looked to me to be a lopsided UD win for Sergei and then lost a similar fight against SI.

Since then, tomato soup has been his diet and the cans are piling up. How he got this fight with Vitali is suspicious. However, being that Vitali couldn't force Haye to fight him, and Valuev was scared too, it looks like Briggs gets a free pass.

He's beaten NOBODY. He has not stepped up against guys like Barrett or even any of the oldtimers who are also still vying for a shot like Holy and McCall.

But WTF, he's a DK fighter I think, and that promoter finds ways to get his wannabees shots. Just look at Ray Austin.

Wlad would dominate Briggs and brutalize him worse than Vitali is going to. But somehow in a year or two after Wlad has dispensed with another 3-4 worthy contenders this wannabe will probably get another shot against Wlad.

    No he wouldn't.
Well, he'd probably dominate him more (meaning more one sided), but he won't brutalize him more. Vitali will likely scrap a bit (thus more give and take), where as Wlad would just safely jab and grab. I can't imagine they guy reluctant to let go against Chambers giving Briggs any counter opportunities.
