You need another hobby, friend...this one is starting to drive you insane. Though Peter didn't do much to get his shot, he got it by default, because Povetkin dropped out. He hadn't done much since he lost to Vitali, but he had at least beat one guy who was ranked in the top 50 in Nagy Aguilera. Briggs, on the other hand, fought four guys who couldn't draw a pay check as sparring partners. We're talking C level competition. Based on his age and recent resume, his title challenge is an unmitigated joke. No, Peter wasn't the best. But he was a mandatory because Povetkin wimped ou, again.
Cmon, JLH. And btw who the hell calls himself JLH. You are a bad sonofabitch, kinda like the kid from the Johnny Cash song, Sue. Anyways Sue, how was Wlad tentative against fast Eddie. He was moving well in that fight, and Wlad didn't often have a stationary target. When he did, he nailed him bad. Then against Sam Peter, he showed NO fear. He was right in there from the very start, even taking the same left hook that left Jeremy Williams in a coma.:nut He went for the kill early, but Sam Peter was even mobile in this fight, avoiding the hardest punches and rolling away from the powerful right. Shannon Briggs while big, and with some power(less than Peter's by a longshot IMO) has ZERO mobility, and like the last ZERO mobility guy we saw Wlad fight would be KTFO uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrrllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyy!:vonnecunt:vonnecunt I think Vitali takes Briggs inside 8, but that is because Vitali is a purely outside fighter, and doesn't look for angles like Wlad. Briggs will be able to parry some of Vitali's attack, whereas Wlad would beat him bad off the hookjab, and drive his str8s in quicker.
I guess you missed the part where Manny was like, "WTF Wald this guy is a chump put him away now!" and Wlad was like" I'm trying Manny! But Chambers is too powerful!" ...wait, you also said Wlad looks for angles? Are we talking about the same guy? The Wlad I know is stand tall, bi-directional: straight forward, scoot back. No angles whatsoever. Anyhow, I agree about Brigg not having mobility anymore, but he's taller than Peter and his hands are way faster...that size gives him more of a (outside) chance at landing the bomb. Like I said, I don't favor Brigs at all, but he has a much better chance at an upset against Wlad then the light hitting, tiny immobile guys cause he's a pretty big strong dude.
Certainly. I have this documentary about the "shady side of boxing" and Briggs was highlighted as we was coming up making a name for himself. They found this guy who had a terrible record but the commission wouldn't allow it. So they took the guy for a physical and some doctor said "no problem" so they went back to the commission and pleaded their case, and finally it was given the green light. They paid the other boxer, I think $600 (which was more than Briggs was getting) and then last minute the guy slyly demanded more. They paid him...and Briggs knocked him out in under 40 seconds. It didn't appear Briggs tired at all. Beyond that though....honestly not sure.
Wlad wasn't reluctant against Chambers, he struggled to land flush shots against a defensive guy with pretty goog defensive movement. Wlad's size is a huge advantage in not being hit, but turns into a disadvantage when it comes to hitting much shorter fighters who don't bring the fight to him. Wlad's straight and cross would find Briggs more easily that Chambers or Peter.
"DUCK"? I wouldn't call it a duck simply b/c Briggs hasn't really had the name or backing to be in position for a fight like that. Don't get me wrong, Briggs is definitely dangerous...a big RISK early in fights but the klits had other options that made a lot more sense. You can't say they DUCKED Briggs when there were plenty of OTHER options that would mean more, generate more financially and presented less risks.
Hendo is clearly up there with farmboxer, bailey, herb, saul, bigbone as the biggest idiot in esb. This threads proves it. Briggs could have fought Wlad if he would have beaten Iggy but instead Briggs got beat easily.
