Why hasn’t Wilder - Ortiz been officially announced?

Are we sure this fight is going ahead? Everything’s gone a bit quiet.

Fury said at one point he didnt think he’d fight Ortiz incase he lost and ruined the rematch but that’s Fury. Hearn doesn’t think they can afford with it being PPV etc but he’s obviously not unbiased.

Maybe they were waiting to see what would happen with Fury? Fury won’t be ready for February with that cut so he’ll almost definitely need a fight before whereas November was cutting it close for February.

Wilder needs to find a heavyweight to ****** off to make money. With Joshua -Ruiz in Saudi Arabia their pockets are already lined with a 90 million pot? Cant ****** off a fight where the fighters have already been paid. Must be waiting for Whyte to announce his next PPV so he can announce for the same date and fight a pensioner while screaming Whyte been ducking him for years. Wilder must feel real dumb running his whole career while Ruiz gets championship fight, makes 9 million, KOs champ and wins 3 belts in the space of 5 1/2 weeks with an 8 figure payday 5 months later.

Because grandpa Ortiz is still sleeping in his wheel chair, and is under a large dose of sedatives. The bomb squad ready to wake him up just before Christmas.

If you're in the UK you may not notice this and it probably won't affect you in the least.

In all seriousness, I read that PBC is going to announce on the Spence-Porter card that Wilder-Ortiz is going to take place on either Fox (national television) in prime time or on Fox Sports PPV. And Showtime has already told the execs at PBC if Wilder doesn't fight on Showtime then they are going to drop PBC/boxing entirely.

And I think Haymon and his team are just getting their ducks in a row and securing dates on Fox for the eventual announcement of the loss of the Showtime slots.

PBC has all but stopped fighting on Showtime anyway. I think they've had two cards all summer. I only subscribe to Showtime for boxing, they don't really have any good shows at the moment (and get no movies worth watching).

Once PBC signed the big deal with Fox, and started airing regular shows on FS1 and producing weekend boxing talk shows and profiles, the move away from Showtime was inevitable.

Fox is available in every home that has a televsion. Showtime's subscribers seem to be dwindling. When only 250,000 people bought the Showtime PPV of Wilder-Fury 1, I think PBC just decided they weren't going to put the rematch on Showtime PPV. They were going to focus on Fox. And that's what they've done. They've been promoting boxing cards on Fox NFL broadcasts since the NFL season started. They're really making an attempt to grow the audience and get more eyes on boxing.

I think Showtime will go the way of HBO by the end of 2019, unless Showtime decides to give another promoter a shot at airing shows. Maybe Duva or a smaller promoter like that will step in. Maybe Golden Boy will start putting minor cards or smaller names on Showtime. Otherwise, I think Showtime will announce it's out of boxing.

I can't see Wilder fighting on Showtime again. More than 100 million people tune in to Fox to watch the Super Bowl. I think Showtime has 10 million subscribers tops. Once the networks got involved again, HBO and Showtime's influence plummeted. Which is fitting, because HBO and Showtime didn't really become players in boxing until the national television networks decided to pull out of boxing.

It will probably be announced during the Spence vs Porter fight week.

22 weeks until the Wilder/Fury rematch date...
Doesn't look likely it will happen in Feb.
