Why hasn't Bute been able to close negotiations with anyone?

Kessler fought top 5 - even top 3 guys before fighting Calzaghe. He was even a a big unification fight between the WBA and the WBC champs.

Bute has never done anything close to that. What long-standing champion did Bute beat to get the belt by the way?

31-32 years old and not one living opponent. Never beaten an established champion or anything close. Just a long row of second-tier opponents.

I thought the same thing but feel a bit different now.

Bute hasnt fought a major name that will put him on the map, but I dont think his resume is as bad as a first glance looks

I agree Bute hasnt fought the top guys yet but look at resumes overall

Bute beat Bika - better than Ward,
    Miranda - better than Ward,
Andrade twice, first time when Andrade was #3 SMW,
    Joppy,
Zuniga, better than Cloud and Cloud beating Zuniga has put him above Dawson
    Brinkley
Berrio - Holds a win over Steiglitz
    Magee European champ
    Mendy undefeated

    Ward has beaten
Kessler - A very good win better than any name on Bute resume but remember that Kessler was an unwell fighter
    Miranda
Green - who lost to Miranda
    Bika
Abraham on a winning run of 1 injury victory and then 2 losses the last being very decisive

Overall Bute has a better resume.

Wards last 4 fights, in order of last

Abraham coming off of 2 S6 losses and not as accomplished a SMW as Magee

    Bika who Bute beat clearer

Green who is not as good a SMW as Andrade in Butes 2nd fight with him

Just here Bute is 3-0 up against Ward

Kessler - Is a better win than anything on Butes record, but is a win over an unwell double vision suffering Kessler better overall than Andrade 1 who was #3 SMW, Berrio IBF champ, Zuniga, Brinkley, Joppy, Mendy

Consider also Bute beat Miranda clearer than Ward.

I do understand what you are saying though. Not meaning this quite as it sounds but Ward is carried by Kesslers name, Froch by Pascals, Kesslers by Froch/Beyer. Butes name isnt carried by anyone

    Read the first post.

All I have to say: Haters gonna hate.

And Bute will keep knocking anybody who fights with him. No wonders why everybody duck him.

Trying to convince the ignorant about his path ?

1- In 2007, the IBF demanded an immediate purse bid between Froch & Bute for an IBF eliminator bout. Bute showed up but Froch's team declined. Froch had to wait another 18 months before finally getting a shot at a title. Froch should have been Bute's first big catch.

2- Move into Spring of 2009.... Dibella & Interbox are about to announce a Bute vs Taylor unification fight in the US and on HBO, as long as Taylor beats Froch. BIG SURPRIZE....Froch upsets Taylor and that fight can't be made anymore right away....

3- Since Froch beat Taylor, Interbox & Hennessy start negociations for a September unification fight which is all agreed to take place in Nottingham. Bute is given an ultimatum which is fight Froch now or rematch Andrade. He picks the rematch with Andrade to shut the critics. Initially the Andrade rematch was supposed to be in October but HBO decided to pick it up and pushed it further in November to fit their schedule...

4- Lets move to April 2010. TOP RANK and Interbox have a complete agreement to have Pavlik & Bute square off in Atlantic City on HBO, as long as Bute beats Miranda & Pavlik beats Martinez. The end result is Martinez beats Pavlik and HBO no longer wants to broadcast the fight, therefore it's off !

5- Interbox invites Kessler to Montreal in order to possibly start negociations for a future Bute fight. Kessler is also there to watch Renan St-Juste fight as his possible tune up with a southpaw in order to prepare for Bute. The initial offer is made but Sauerland never gives any sign of life from that point on....Interbox is thinking something is wrong and they truly start believing Sauerland doesn't want them now as soon as they target a righty in BOUADLA for Kessler's comeback fight.... End result is they were right.

In conclusion, they were quite successful on a few occasions to land a big name but destiny played a few tricks in the process....

Since Bute became the IBF champ, there are only 2 instances where they truly could and should have done differently.

The Bute vs Joppy fight was a total FARCE and a shame considering they easily could and should have given Lucian a better opponent at that point. That's Spring 2008.

Then they ****ed up in the summer of 2010 after Pavlik lost... Instead of losing time by unsuccessfully trying to make a fight in Romania that summer following the Pavlik debacle, they should have immediately gotten out of the way, the mandatory Brinkley fight in Montreal, in order to be free for a meaningful fall fight and possibly put pressure on Showtime to enter the S6 tournament instead of Johnson !

This nonsense is really getting old. The S-6 has been going on for nearly two years. You can't blame Bute for the fact that Herschman left him out because including him would cost to much.

Prior to the start of the S-6 Jermain Taylor lost 3 of his previous 4 fights, two of them to Kelly Pavlik. Froch's best win was Taylor, a Pavlik left over. Ward's best win was Miranda, another Pavlik left over. Dirrell's best win was Oganov who got knocked out by a Pavlik left over.

Kessler was best known for a fight he lost, and as soon as the S-6 started he got beat up by a guy who's best win was Pavlik's left over.

Froch went life and death with Dirrell, and let me remind you, Dirrell's best win at the time got knocked the **** out by Zuniga!

There's your original 6 in a tourney where Showtime's finances prohibited including at least two guys who were more proven than 4 of the original 6.

Now get a ****ing grip! This constant twisting of the facts, and persistent revisionist history is pathetic!

If you ain't got anything intelligent to say..... at least every now and then, you should simply shut your tight ass trap.

Reading guys like you reminds me why they stop you from drinking past 1am in Ontario bars....:hey

If it wasn't for us in Montreal (Quebec)....even ****in' bowling would be given more props than boxing in Canada. So show some respect little man...:deal

Mikkel Kessler beating Beyer is like if Bute would have beaten Stieglietz.... Big unification ? Think not..... So basically Siaca, Mundine, Beyer, Lucas & Andrade are the big names prior to Calzaghe ? :-( Are we really suppose to be that much more impressed ?

And age isn't everything anyways... How old was Calzaghe before he first unified ? How old was Hopkins before he first unified ? How old was Martinez before he even became champ ?

As long as he's not retiring, don't even bring that pointless reason up.

    It's because it's always some else's fault, never Lucian's.

Kessler did shamelessly duck him though. :deal
