Seems like this fight was announced months ago and i check to find out its still two months away from happening do these clowns need half a year to prepare? Groves and Froch will have fought twice in almost the same amount of time its taken these guys to sign and actually face off. Boxers inactivity is one of the things hurting the sport.
haha ye the press conference is months away from the actual fight there hyping it a bit much its not even close to the fight tomorrow could be. ah well there both funny.
Kidology on Frank's part- he has him under contract for three fights and wishes to draw that contract out. I am worried for Fury- if he wins he could be waiting around seemingly for years waiting for a shot at Wlad and can't keep busy. At this stage he really should be fighting top 15 guys at three times a year.
I actually couldn't give a **** about this. The first fight was **** and I expect the rematch to be exactly the same.
They announced it months and months ago to try and slowly but surely get tickets sold. If it was announced 3 months before it began, it would have sold half the arena at most.
It's a bit ridiculous. They announced this five or six months before. Tyson Fury's being handled very badly. While he was active he was actually improving, and he seemed very serious for a while last year. Certainly it wasn't the Fury camp's fault that Haye pulled out twice, but the thing to do was to have him in the ring often and sharpen him up and see if he can improve. Keep his weight down, he keep busy. Peter Fury knows this but somehow they have let the promoters and television dictate these matters.
Its because of the World Cup. They can't run a show during the World Cup because it wouldnt sell and would get no coverage.
Well its fight week they want the coverage, not when its announced. They want people to sign up to boxnation to see that fight, virtually noone signs up the moment its announced. Its also down to the fact Froch Groves would overshadow the fight if they had it before the World Cup, so they've had to push it back, its nothing to do with the fighters or some promotional technique to get extra ticket sales, its simply because that was the only spot they could get and pick up the media. Its why Hearn isn't running any shows until after the World Cup as well.
My point is that it doesn't matter if it's before during or after the World Cup, it's not got any real attention I.e. Not mentioned on national news bulletins, tickets are selling poorly etc.
Can't but help thinking that the fight would be much, much bigger if it were on Channel Five. Frank always has moaned about the lack of terrestrial TV coverage post 1995 but he is sort of responsible with Tyson Fury's contract.
Channel Five would never pay the money needed for the purses. Besides, one of the reasons for this fight is to bring casual fans and new subscribers to BoxNation. This card will be a belter. The excitement will build and build in the coming weeks.
The way it's going this fight will lose a LOT of money (ie ticket sales and lack of BN subscriptions/PPVs), hence why c5 would rightfully swerve it. Btw anyone know how much those two are getting for this, hope for furys sake it's a cast iron guarantee of at least high 6 figures
