Its the old anti black syndrome of those in power. We cant have great black icons honoured with knighthoods. Only coconuts get knighted if they kiss politicians arses.

Lewis should have been knighted a long time back and the guy is intellectually sound so should have got a Life peerage. Steve Redgrave got a knighthood for rowing a poxy boat yet a true gladiator like Lewis is denied a knighthood.

I think we should start a Knighthood for LL campaign and put a petition up on the govenments web site.

Also the likes of Nigel Benn should have been knighted. The guy was an excellent boxer and did a lot of charity work which unlike other people he never sought publicity for.

Dont be knocking Redgrave. It doesn't help your argument.

Oh by the way, he's already got a CBE which is one down from a knighthood.

He probably will with time. The fact that he doesn't live here may count against him as well.

Give it time I'm sure LL with get a knighthood. Benn, on the other hand, hasn't got a hope in hell.

Whats so special about rowing ?

It's a sport for the elite and means nothing to the vast majority of people in the UK. The goverment think it is ok to knight someone for their achievements in rowing but boxers receive lesser honours for if not greater then similar achievements to that of Redgrave.

I am sure Redgrave is a nice chap and I know for a fact he like Benn does a lot of charity work for which he seeks no media attention.

I am going to start an online petition to get Lewis knighted. Hopefully Gordon Brown and co can get off their backsides and give him the honour he deserves.

I hope they don't get side tracked from dealing with the credit crunch and the immigration issue to deal with this pressing issue of the day.;)

BTW I have it on good authority that Redgrave is a bit of a twat, I don't think him getting one and Lennox not is a racial thing, its more to do with the fact that "The Establishment" likes rowing a lot more than it likes professional boxing.

Dont matter what his sport was. 5 golds in 5 olympics is a ****ing stunning achievement.

Dont get me wrong I'd be happy to see lennox knighted, but Redgrave deserves his.

Is Lennox the kind of guy who cares about a Knighthood though?
