Because Golovkin's only come on to the scene in the past year or so, and Martinez in that time has been busy facing Chavez Jr and having surgery on the injury he sustained from him. His first fight back since then has also furthered the toll on his body, and he's rumoured to be out for the remainder of the year due to a hand injury. It's hard to say how many more fights he has left in the sport.

So, in the answer to your question, it hasn't happened because there hasn't been a chance, yet, for it to happen.

Assuming GGG keeps winning and building his name it should hopefully happen maybe early next year..

Would be a good fight but I think Golovkin stops him late.. Sergio is starting to show his age a bit..

Could also see Sergio ducking him if he carries on beasting everyone.

I don't reckon it happens. Sergio's body is breaking down, and GGG isn't a big enough name to take a risk against at this stage of his career.

dibella isn't confident that martinez can beat golovkin. unless it's cash out type money they won't take the fight. it won't be cash out type money, for sure.

i agree. martinez looked old as hell in his last fight. he's an athletic fighter on 38 year old legs. i think golovkin catches up and pounds on him.

Martinez won't fight again his year

if Golovkin KO's Matthew Macklin in June he schould try to get a fight with Chavez Jr or Quillin for Oktober/November

If GGG looks impressive against Macklin, I certainly see it happening soon.

Although Sergioo may well try to cash out in a huge PPV fight against Mayweather or even JCC jnr 2.

I think Sergio obly has 2-3 fights left, tops.

Two reasons. Waiting for the big money rematch with Chavez Jr and it's too early to make any commitment after he got injured against Murray.

Mainly because Martinez has been injured and Dibella after being so upset that stars like Mayweather didn't want to face Martinez because he wasn't a big enough name, is now saying the same. Golovkin needs to crush Macklin in a more impressive way than Martinez face someone like Geale and then he will have a good shot if Martinez doesn't retire
