Why hasn't Naseem Hamed been inducted into the IBHOF?

It makes no sense why Naseem Hamed(36-1 31KOs) is not in the hall of fame.
He was the best and most exciting featherweight of the last 30 years. In the era of 4 belts per weight class he would have had a complete monopoly on the division if it wasn't for boxing politics (he did defeat titleholders Steve Robinson (TKO8.), Tom Johnson (TKO8.),Cesar Soto (W12) and Wilfredo Vasquez (TKO7) to claim belts.) He also beat notable opponents and former titleholders Wayne McCullough, Paul Ingle, Vuyani Bungu and Manuel Medina.

The flashy southpaw defended his WBO title 15 times and held the lineal title for 3 years. He brought an unprecedented amount of excitement, fame and money into the smaller weight classes. His fight with Kevin Kelley on December 19th 1997 (KO4) was one of the most exciting fights of the decade. He made over £40 million in his career and should be credited with changing the economic model for the lighter weight classes.

He gets unfairly criticized for the one loss at the end to Barrera when he was at the tail end of career. During this time he had suffered several serious injuries to his hands that severely diminished his legendary punching power and he was under trained being 2 stone overweight 8 weeks before the fight. He then losses a competitive 115-112 decision to a Prime Barrera. I have no doubt in my mind if Naz was healthy and trained hard he would have beaten Barrera.

If Barry McGuigan is in the hall of fame, Naseem Hamed should be in as well.

He isn't a first ballot but he should be inducted at some point.

He would have a chance at beating any featherweight in history with just one punch.

I disagree. In my opinion he should be a slam dunk first ballot hall of famer. He is an all time great fighter at featherweight.
The fact that he hasn't been inducted after 6 years of eligibility is a complete farce.

Last time I checked being modest wasn't part of the criteria for induction into the hall of fame.

good post, hes definitely deserving of a place.
ive never agreed when people said that he faced sub par opposition and lost to the 1st decent fighter he boxed, that's just bull as your post shows well.
His opponents were generally world class and he had that rare jewel, one punch power.
I loved watching him, he was oe of the most exciting boxers in recent memory.
I think he underperformed against barerra (who has to be credited for following excellent tactics from bell one till twelve) but hameds preparation was **** poor, and he knew it. when have you ever seen him look so nervous? no one to blame but himself but even at that stage of his career I believe he could've beaten barerra with the right preparation

He shouldn't be in the HOF but lots of non-HOF quality fighters get in there. So by that standard he should get in

Stallone is in the non participant category so his name is not necessary here.

Perkins was twice champion, also unified a division, had beaten loi (one of the best in boxing history ) tested himself at the absolute highest level and was only outclassed by napoles (leagues more skill than mab, imo anyways)

People can say Hamed should be in, but they need to say who he should be instead of.
