I was just thinking about this. Ever since coming of his two victories over the former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor, he has fought only three times, with two mandatories over obscure opposition and the historic upset at the hands of Bernard Hopkins. I understand that he has had injuries or contract issues with Top Rank. Is he still hungry or since he has had the belts, he is not so much now as he was when he was contending? Plus, was he avoiding Abraham while Arthur was still in the division? Finally, what is up with Pavlik criticizing the super six super middleweight tournament?
Cause he got beaten down by the only real challenge he's taken since. I think he got the hunger beaten out of him by B-Hop and has completely changed his persona. He used to be about the titles and legacy, now, he solely seems to be about "What's in it for me" Refusing to face Sturm when he'd make a million for instance - that's just weird to me, he should trust that if he brings Sturm to America, he claims another belt, his legacy goes up a notch and he can look for his big money fight following.
You right about that. B-Hop beat him so bad he is tramatized. The Ghost became the Ghost. a mere image of what he used to be. Realty has smacked him in the face. It was nothing but hype. Plus the bottle is driving him crazy. He cant focus. REHAB LOL
Pav has a date on October 3rd, and a list of 4 opponents HBO already said yes to. That means that in two calendar years, September 29th 2007 to October 3rd 2009, he will fight a total of 6 times, or an average of 3 times per year. He's plenty active. As far as Abraham is concerned the idea that Pavlik "ducked" or "avoided" Abraham is ludicrous. All the real evidence says Sauerland and Abraham were all talk, and NEVER negotiated seriously. If they did, show me the numbers!
Yo this guy BOORADELY is a troll. Just avoid him. HE just want attention. Look his post is lies and all lies. Kelly pvlick is supposed to fight in 2010 between 4 fighters depending on who he chooses. Strum, winky, and two fill ins. not big names or contenders. if you want to know more TRUE PAVLIK fans hit me up and ill give you sites and links to go too. Peace
Pavlik is fighting on October 3rd: http://www.vindy.com/news/2009/jul/18/pavlik-camp-hbo-at-work-on-a-fight/?pavlik And the possible opponents you are so busy criticizing includes 3 world champions, and a sure bet for hall of fame membership.
Negative. He cant get a fight because he's to bizzy sighning a book he wrote while in rehab. do the research. lol
Well he's been chasing bigger fights and missed out on them. That and Arum hasn't exactly been doing the best job with him. Since being the MW Champion, he rematched Taylor at 166, took on Gary "The Pocket Rocket Lockett" in a meaningless Mando that was MEANT to lead to a Calzaghe fight in November. Instead Calzaghe (likely looking at risk and payday) jumped on a RJJ fight. HBO turned into guppies for it (in the process nearly killing their PPV product) and Pavlik was left to find other options. After having missed out on Joe Calzaghe, Winky Wright and Paul Williams...he wound up taking on B-Hop. Hopkins owned him (I don't buy into any of the excuses) and Pavlik took some time to heal up from a somewhat brutal schedule. Having already pushed back Rubio's mando shot to take on Hopkins, Pavlik jumped in there and took on Rubio. From there? Well this is where things get sketchy. He had a fight with Mora set up...either the heat from such a shitty fight burnt Arum and Pavlik enough to have Pav nix it. Abraham's people and Arum seemed to be in "deep negotiations" at one point then the next day Pavlik is crossed off the list. Pavlik and Sturm seemed set to fight as well but Pavlik didn't like the take on the fight given by HBO. Now it seems like he'll fight one of four...Sergio Martinez, Karol Balszay, Winky Wright or Felix Sturm. Basically it's been a mix of bad management and just plain bad luck.
