People became more obsessed with Jones vs Silva I imagine. That and GSP has been seen as more and more boring lately. Doens't make it true, but I imagine that is what has changed.
Yes, sickening for not sharing the same opinion as you. I just don't see it being competitive, Silva would starch him IMO. If GSP co tiniest to dominate Welter against more top contenders I'm happy. I don't slag Monzon off for not stepping up and fighting Foster, same as Hagler-Mike Spinks.
Not at all , we all share different opinions , i just happen to think your opinion sucks !!!! To say that a fight between 2 of the ATG's if not the 2 most superior fighters to grace the sport of modern and AT MMA would not be competitive is not true , specially when the above names like Ellenberger , Hendricks , Condit , Bisping and Palhares have been quoted as more suitable options !!! Im sorry but that doesn't fly Silva has shown a weakness (all be it a small one) against dominant wrestlers with an efficient top game , St Pierre apart from Serra 1 , hasn't put a foot wrong against the best the WW division has to offer , they are both dominant champions in there weight classes over a sustained period of time , they are number 1 and 2 on every P4P list that exists , they are only 15 lbs apart on the scales , what is 15 lbs ??!! , what evidence is there to suggest that this fight WILL NOT BE COMPETETIVE ??? Aside from Sonnen and Condit there is nothing in there weight classes left to do , Belfort will figure but he was KO'd with a front kick !!!!!!! , are you seriously telling me that Ellenberger and Hendricks provide more interest than Silva , are you seriously telling me that Bisping , Munoz or Palhares provide more interest than St Pierre ???? Come on man ................ :deal
Ellenberger - the first man to finish Jake Shields (a fighter who going into 2011 had a fifteen fight, two weight winning streak) in over eleven years. So defeating Shields in much more dominant fashion than St. Pierre managed. Hendricks - became the first man to knockout Jon Fitch (a fighter with a UFC record of 13-1-1) since 2002. So defeating Fitch in much more dominant fashion than St. Pierre managed. Yes how ridiclous a suggestion that these men deserve a shot at the world champion! They clearly don't deserve it!
Thank you for that MMA tutorial , i had no idea who Jake Ellenberger or Jonny Hendricks were :good Hendricks has looked very good since moving to 170 , but he's limited and one dimensional , there are some questions that haven't been answered about Hendricks yet , for me , he's 2 wins away from being under serious consideration for a crack at GSP Ellenberger (number 3 contender effectively) was just in a war with little old Diego Sanchez which if it had a 4th round he was cooked :deal , Dan Henderson came very close to finishing Shields in the fashion Ellenberger did but he gassed , any man with stand up skills can / could potentially take out Jake Shields inside the first 2 mins of the 1st round , the man cannot strike !!!! Aside from that , when you think that Anderson Silva is what these men are being compared too (in directly) there is no comparison , these men have absolutely no right what so ever to " demand " a title shot , there simply not good enough for that , specially when if they are being used a plausible excuse not to match Silva and St Pierre , it doesn't wash !!!!!
Yes. It is stupid to demand a champion defends his title. What annoys me with your argument is that belittles everyone who is not a champion. Nobody can prove themselves worthy of being champion unless they're the chance. Both have won numerous fights against good opposition and look good whilst doing so. I have share your poor opinion of Shields but the fact is nobody has done to him what Ellenberger did, ditto what Hendricks did to Fitch. In any case we're not being denied GSP-Silva so GSP can defend against them or Silva can defend against Bisping. We're not getting it is because the UFC wanted to make Silva-Sonnen II and GSP-Diaz (before GSP got injured). I'd love to hear an explanation about how these fights are stupid and shouldn't be made. One is the rematch of the only fight in the UFC where Silva has looked beatable and the other is a unification match between the UFC and Strikeforce champions. Remember Spring 2010; everyone was demanding GSP-Silva and we very nearly got it. But instead Silva-Sonnen got made to punish Silva. That fight turned out to be a classic and very nearly saw Silva lose his title.
What are you talking about you idiot , Diaz is irrelevant he was just schooled by Condit Plus ................ where have i said Silva Sonnen 2 and St Pierre CONDIT are stupid fights ??? They are fights that have to take place , but after that there's **** all left to do but fight each other IMHO The rest of the division should scrap it out amongst themselves to become a " worthy " title challenger Here is a question for you , do you think Leites , Cote and Maia all warranted a title shot ??? , if you do please explain yourself
Sigh. You were complaining about no getting GSP-Silva. That indicates you want the fight NOW. Well the fights the UFC decided to make instead were Silva-Sonnen and GSP-Diaz (which while it hasn't happened is the fight that has twice been announced as GSP's next title defense). That's why those fights are relevant. And its stupid to say that all contenders should be exhausted before the champion has to defend. Ellenberger has more than proved himself deserving of a title shot and Hendricks needs only another good win to do so. Its this sort of short-termist booking that destroyed the worth of boxing championships - with champions never defending against challengers. Now onto those three fights you mentioned. Maia was a late injury replacement for Belfort, a fight that I thought was worthwhile having. The Leites fight occured at the same point that GSP was prearing to face Thiago Alves, a fight that given how great Alves had been looking certainly needed to happen. The Cote fight occured as GSP was preparing to face BJ Penn, again a fight that needed to happen. So while those three fights weren't brilliant I don't see how they aid your argument for rushing to make Silva-GSP.
Anderson would absolutely crush little Georges, and little Georges knows it. Even ***** Jackson wouldnt find a way to bore everyone to death in this one, it would be the fight that ruined little Georges confidence once and for all Only way little little Georges stands a chance is if they do a Pacquiao and force Anderson to weigh in at WW twig on the night of the fight
Will Seriously mate , look through ALL of my posts on this matter , you'll find me saying that Sonnen and Condit (not Diaz) have to get there shots , but after that , this fight should be made , IF , they beat Sonnen and Condit respectively The fact you have validated Leites , Maia and Cote as opponents tell's me we are on completely different pages , they are shambolic , farcical , meaningless title defences that in the long run done the organisation and the fighters more harm than good , given that the UFC have cut Leites and Cote id suggest even the UFC would have to agree they dropped the ball Silva should have fought @205 at that time , i didn't state that but maybe i should of , as i can see where somebody would get confused being that the argument here is a potential super fight between Silva and St Pierre @185 , not Silva fighting above 185 , which at the time he should of What generates more interest , Silva vs Rampage / Thiago Silva or Machida , or Silva vs Lietes / Cote or Maia Look mate I'm all for structure , I'm all for weight classes , I've argued this with a whole host of the most avid PRIDE fans for the last 2 years , but what i don't like is a champion defending a title for the sake of defending a title , which Silva and GSP have both done in the past , this to me makes no sense at all , if you have dominant champions taking out the rest of the field one after the other for a sustained period of time , the law of common sense dictates that these men should face each other in a " super fight " , its been happening in boxing since time began (Flea Man can you tell me when the first inter weight super fight between 2 current champions took place in boxing ??) And he probably can , off the top of his head Its the unwillingness of all parties (Dana , the UFC , Silva and St Pierre) to give this fight the push that has me disillusioned , could you imagine if boxing took this stance , where would the interest be ??? , well WTF is different here ???
Thats an opinion and we've all got one This would be the UFC's biggest fight in history and thats a fact :deal
They're not in the same weight class. THAT'S the difference. If GSP was taking middleweight fights and refusing to fight Silva or if Silva was still regularly taking light heavyweight fights and refusing to face Jones then it would be disgraceful. Them staying in their own weight class is understandable if not entirely ideal. Again I'm not against either fight super-fight being made. Indeed I hope and expect Jones-Silva to be made. I just think you're taking a good point to unreasonable extremes. In terms of your view on those title defenses you're making the mistake of forgetting what is now in the past was once in the future. You're acting like the UFC knew how bad those fights were going to be and deliberately made those fights anyway. No one knew those fights were going to be that bad. Maia was an unusual case as he got the shot on two months notice when both Belfort and Sonnen were injured. And while he lost a lot of steam after being knocked out by Marquardt the previous winter before that many people really wanted to see him go against Silva. Cote and Leites were bad but hell they were much more deserving of their title shot than Matt Serra...sometimes you run out of a challengers and have to give a weaker guy a shot. Doesn't always end up badly for you.
