Sorry, I meant to add "...in America". Tszyu is a bigger name in Oz than Judah is in America. I'll concede that as I don't have any proof of PPV numbers, but there is no way that Judah is greater risk than Tszyu was.

    Agreed.

Like I said, Tszyu was greater reward (in terms of both cash and the respect gained by the win) AND greater risk.

    He's English.

That's enough for me... End thread.

    :D ;)

But in all honesty, Rickys a good fighter who brings popularity to the sport (at least in the UK and perhaps Europe). He's a multiple time world champ in multiple weight divisions, whose only lost is to the best fighter of his generation.

While it may not have been a pretty win, I was very impressed with his victory over Kostya Tszyu (one of my favourite fighters at the time, and still one of my all time favourite fighters)

I just wish more people has listened to me 5-6 years ago. Too many people were duped for waaayyy too long.

anyway, I'm taking a back seat now, satisfied that enough folks have had their eyes opened to the farce that is Hatton. It's snowballing, and i'm off to have a few beers and bang some broads.

Hatton did the same with Baldomir when hewas lookingfo hs 1st American fight, Balodmir wanted 50/50, and it led to the break down of the fight, also they probably underrated Baldomir, casuse he beat Judah round about the time Hatton was looking for Baldomir.

When people say "I was a fan of Mayweather but lost interest when he stopped taking on the best", I find it credible. When people say "I was a fan of Roy Jones until he started treading water", I find it credible. These are both boxers who took a lot of risks at one point in their career and then started to play it safe.

The same **** doesn't stick with boxers like Hatton. This is someone who fought, what, 40 mediocre fighters (at best) during the early part of his career? If you were a Hatton fan when he was fighting WBU optional opponents but not once he started taking on Castillo, Tszyu and Mayweather, then you're an idiot who clearly can't appreciate boxing properly. End of story.

Personally, I've never been a huge Hatton fan, but I've liked him a lot more since he started taking on opponents with a real chance of beating him. I totally don't get how someone can possibly like a boxer when he is being wrapped in cotton wool and then reject him when he starts fighting decent opponents. I suspect it's bull**** in most cases, like all the "Brits" (who in the UK calls themself a "Brit"?) who mysteriously turn up to criticise British boxers in their first post on here.

Sure Hatton is worthy of support; this is coming from someone who doesn't support Hatton. My main reason is that he's a twit with a boring "I'm a jack-the-lad but I'm honest and that's why people like me" routine that doesn't appeal to me, but I totally understand why Hatton has so many dedicated fans.

i think there's truth in both sides of the argument.some on here notably old sweaty have never had a good word for him,and gave him any kind of credit, especially for his win over tszyu.others just permanantly hang onto his nuts and buy the whole deal.i must admit i'm getting a little bit more cynical regarding ricky.especially his going down the road of least resistance,he is now basically a marketing and money machine and as a fighter he has definitely lost credibility, especially with his consant ducking of witter.fair enough witter has screwed up but there was no reason that at some point hatton couldn't have been fighting witter before 55,000 in manchester.having said that is mayweather showing any inclination to want to fight cotto, margarito and company? so this attitude is endemic in the modern game among most, although someone like cotto is the obvious exception.it must be said however that hatton is a modern day phenomenon as regarding his pulling power, and i think there is a certain amount of hypocrisy here from people, because most fighters/promoters would want to maximise such a cash cow to the full.i mean it is conceivable that this kid could pull in a 100,000 people fighting a de la hoya or mayweather in wembley stadium, think about it.as for me i'm a fight fan and unlike joe public out there i can see that his drawing power is bigger than his talent, but hey dempsey carried carpentier for 4 rounds in a mismatch in front of over 80,000 so it's nothing new.

So what it is? It was more money than he is worth, considering he isn't a draw. He will never make that kind of money in the future, unless he fights Hatton.

A definiton of greed - "excessive desire to acquire or possess more (especially more material wealth) than one needs or deserves". Witter doesn't deserve that kind of money because he can't make it by himself. If he could make £500,000 on his won and Hatton had offered £100,000 which Witter rejected, that wouldn't be greed. But £100,000 is more than Witter is worth, so asking for more is greedy.

By the way, why did you ignore my quote about Hatton offering Witter a fight?

He was making about £250K from the Demetrius Hopkins before Hopkin pulledout, lets face it Hatton is deffo the more greedy of the two.
