This is the Floyd effect. He conditioned fans to think there is perfection in boxing and that anything less is not worthy. The aftermath of that is what we have now.

It’s probably the only answer. Problem is that not enough will stop buying imo

They are being overpaid to cherry pick. If you can fight a cherry for 1 million or more, why bother risking fighting a dangerous guy

No that is the promoters who can alter your contract or shelf you after a fight

    All greed. It's infuriating.

These promoters and managers etc are literally imbiciles. The boxers in question have surrounded themselves with idiots who (mis)counsel him.

There is a big problem in the media and with several boxing fans who will discredit a fighter who takes a loss in a tough matchup.

We should all praise and respect the warriors that deliver the best matchups.

When we start treating the sport like that we will see the big fights being made often.

No more undefeated padded records, please.

Exactly. Fans crying about the best not fighting the best, yet when a fighter steps up and struggles or loses he's a hypejob. Fans calling for AJ to retire for losing to Usyk, Usyk, a generational talent! Then Fans pay big money for weak P4P, literally giving fighters money they have not earned. Then we have the nerve to ask what happened to the sport of boxing. Full disclosure, I am guilty of paying for weak P4P. Bought Tanks last fight. So, I'm part of the problem as well.

I probably goes all the way back to John L. Sullivan not fighting Peter Jackson, and could go even earlier than that, much earlier.

Curse you, John L., and those who came before you. :shakehead:

Never knew Peter Jackson was a fighter. I thought he only made movies about hobbits. LOL

Small minded promoters and fighters are the bane of this sport. Guys like Haymon see his champions as commodities that must be protected so they don't lose their marketability when in reality that stifles the fighters ability to grow and become more popular. Fact is when fighters take risks, it excites the fans, which garners interest from more fans and then builds that fighters ability to generate revenue.

Right now the two cash cows of boxing are licking their wounds after bad losses. Say what you will about Joshua and Canelo boxing was more exciting when both were on top and chasing big fights and those chasing them were more than willing to take the risk because the financial reward made it worth while.

When boxing has fighters willing to take risks and promoters backing them to take those risks, that's when the sport thrives. But right now we have too many fighters looking to avoid dangerous fights and promoters simply looking to protect themselves by protecting their fighters.

The networks that televise these really need to put their foot down. Those are the enablers, but as I've said on other threads, I believe a correction is coming.

Fury fought everyone except his PEDs accusation.....

Also anyone blaming Floyd is off base, Floyd carried out his career more successfully than any fighter before him or since. Just because it worked for Floyd doesn't excuse these inferior fighters for trying to do the same.

That said as fans you guys can't see the guy in the gloves' perspective. These guys risk their lives in the ring for your entertainment. I'd imagine the goal for most is financial success, in order to do so they have build their fan base and apparently not lose. Because in this era great fighters can't lose, you guys made this reality. So in response, in order to make the most money they can make in a career with an unknown expiration date, they have all become chess players. Because losing to a Crawford means Spence is knocked down 15 notches, Because losing to Aj or Deontay would adversely affect the high earnings of the loser. Because losing to Andrade or Charlo lessen your chances for a 1st or maybe 3rd Canelo fight. So these guys make safe decisions to maintain the status quo earning levels they reach. I blame you guys, the fans for pushing the **** narratives that force these guys career choices.
