Am covered betting-wise on the only 2 possible outcomes. A Calzaghe UD or stoppage (pref 9th). Bika was a a no-win fight that Calzaghe subconsciously could not be bothered to deal with correctly. Kessler is certainly not overrated as evidenced by the amount of cash de la Hoya is trying to get him to take to switch to Golden Boy. Bearing in mind that his right hand was totally ****ed 3 weeks before the Calzaghe fight he deserves respect that he didn't turn it into an issue afterwards. Although the amount of painkilling injections required wasn't good and I hope there isn't any long lasting affect. Hopkins needs to be commended for taking a fight he's never fancied and even more so if he somehow pulls it off

I think this will be an ugly fight, but one that Calzaghe should win by an 8-4 type score. Hopkins is severely troubled by workrate and aggression, as Taylor proved on two occasions.

Worse for Bernard, he has become slower and stiffer since even those two fights in 2005, when he already was clearly past it.

I do agree that the prime version of Hopkins defeats any version of Calzaghe, but unless Joe has gotten old overnight -- certainly a possibility -- he should take this bout on workrate and speed.

    To All:

Much lol; Thanks very much :)

I understand my POV is not going to be appreciated by everybody and perhaps my great respect for Hopkins is tainting my opinion. I can't help the way I feel about this one so guess its going to take a Calzaghe victory to convince me on Saturday.

Loved CHJ's point about the Hatton Castillijo comparison and its very true. Comparing fioghts and styles is not always a good indication of what will transpire.

Anyway fair play and hope nobody is too offended by my 'crazy' opinion. You guys will be calling me a genius come sunday morning if he wins.

If Zaggy wins he can prob lay claim to been the number 2 GB fighter of all time even more so if he takes Pavlik too. We'll see.

I have been running through the possibilities for this fight for awhile now and I have come to the conclusion tha Calzaghe will lose and it may be by stoppage.

My theory runs pretty similar to Jeff's so there is no point going through it, especially as most of you guys are willing to tear Jeff's apart mine goes a step further to say that when Hopkins turns this fight awful and dirty Joe will do his macho act and end up getting stopped or dragged out by the ref. The only hope Joe has for me is that he hear's the final bell but then he leaves it upto B-Hops picked judges.

    sweet jesus.

have you seen the benn-malinga fights? i love benn but stick a consistent jab in his face and the bloke looks clueless. kessler's jab would bust him up badly.

No way.... Benn would smash the granny out of straight up and down Kessler. Kessler is talented and a reasonably good fighter but he is massively overrated and pre-Calzaghe Kesslers nuts must have looked like the titanic at the end of the titanic movie because there were so many Europeans were clutching onto his ball sack.

you do no that calzaghe just says that for his excuse that he didnt fight well and coundt read his opponent so he just throws until he cant stop then starts swinging wildly if things dont go away fortunitly for him he hasnt came into contact with a fighter who can hold the middle of the ring with a good technique of countering ability and experience of been in there with the best other than eubank which was over ten years ago and that was a great performance by joe

hopkins fought roy jones jr in his prime and still gave Jones one of his toughest fights if a prime roy jones jr can not put away hopkins then calzaghe aint! Hopkins has more experience than calzaghe and is one of the best fighters in boxing today , B hop is not a Lacy or Kessler he is a big step up where calzaghe feels it is a easy fight! Calzaghe is really underestimating hopkins, Calzaghe thinks he just needs his speed to win! Hopkins has really come prepared for this fight and it will be shown on april 19th who was really came prepared!

I'd say the Reid fight would give a better indication of how the fight may turn out, Robin was rough and cagey and also had a very good counter right hand.
