Why I believe Brook should agree to fight Spence at least intially

Now I know Brook struggles with weight, might not be able to make 147, etc, etc and all these arguments that people have been making but I believe whether Brook can make it or not, he should agree to defend his title against Spence at Wetlerweight.

    Here is why

Spence's team are under the assumption Brook is going to vacate and move up. If he doesn't they would then have to fight Brook in a 75/25 split in Brook's favor. Being that Eddie Hearn would put this on Sky Box Office, would sell out a big arena in the UK pretty quickly, it would take an astronomical bid from Haymon's side to get the fight in the USA- and with rumors they are fast running out of cash, are they willing to pay Brook that much to hope Spence beats him?

Now if Matchroom win the purse bid, Spence would have to:
    - Come to the UK and fight in a hostile atmosphere against a real crowd favorite in Brook
    - With question marks over Spence physique, and Brook already seen as happy to do this- they would have VADA testing and UKAD testing
    - Take 25% of the money for this risk (remember Jessie Vargas wanted 75% to fight Brook before the GGG fight)

Now put yourself in Haymon's shoes. Does he really want to risk potential superstar Spence in that kind environment for 25% when he's still not reached his peak? He might hope that Brook would struggle to make 147, but Kell works closely with some of the best Sports Scientist and Nutritionist in the world. Nothing happened in his last few fights at 147 to suggest he wasn't effective even with the crash weight loss.

Now we will see how much Spence's people want Brook, and not just hoping to get a vacant title in an easy fight. Does Spence still go through with it, or does Haymon gamble on the 25% his side are getting can become 100% if he matches his charge with Danny Garcia, Keith Thurman at 147, either of the Charlo's or Lara at 154.

I personally believe Brook would call Haymon's (not Spence because I think he has no issues with fighting Brook) bluff at this point and he will pull Errol out. And if Brook can't make the weight successfully he could pull out shortly before the fight citing an inability to make weight, but if he really wants to fight Khan, he's probably going to need to make it anyway.

What does a vacant title do if you have no name behind it? At least if Spence beats Brook it will legitimize his position.
Look at 154 after Floyd dropped the belts...nobody cares about who has them now because these guys are hopeless at promoting themselves.
Brook just came off of a big fight with GGG if Spence can dispatch Brook faster than a MW can then he is up for some good exposure. If he waits for Brook to vacate then he has a empty title with a bunch of no names lined up as mandatories.

That's the thing though, he's got to beat Brook and everyone in Spence's team know that is a lot harder said than done, despite what haters and fanboys choose to believe. Winning a vacant title would be better for Spence's career and development than if he suddenly found himself in too deep against Brook in Sheffield.

What people say about Spence these days is very similar to what people was saying about Jeff Lacy several years back (also an undefeated former US Olympian with a reputation for a killer who's best wins was dispatching B-level fighters quicker than some A-level fighters did) and look what happened to him when he came to the UK and mixed it in with a guy "who only beat one guy" according to the masses.

As I said, Spence's team WANT Brook to vacate. If he doesn't don't be suprised to see Al Haymon take Spence in a different direction- or feed Khan to Brook with immediate effect to lure the Sheffield man away from the belt.

That's an interesting way of looking at it.

From what I can gather from Brook himself, he's quite happy to return to 147. He retweeted about negotiations to begin and said on Sky Sports he's gonna see if he can get back down.

While I think this fight is unlikely as there is enough reasons on both sides for it not too, I think both guys deserve credit for taking it if it does.
