That whole talk is a myth. It doesnt get past me. 'Everyone' wanted to see calzaghe vs jones...jones and calzaghe fans(im both). People were split before the fight on who would win!! so called experts too and many so called expert posters!! so dont cry after the fight cos joe whooped roy that this should never have happened.

Anyone who thinks Calzaghe beat Hopkins must have bought some crack off of Kendall Holt's friends (allegedly).

Anyone with a brain knew JC would win that fight. Come on now. Only nostalgia would make you think Jones would have chance. Hell, even Jones got a shape up so he looked like the version that Ko'd Griffin in the rematch.

By Cazlaghe's own admission the Jones fight was pointless so go argue that with him.

    The effect? nothing.

My point is, someone's father personally wanting his son to play football for the country of his own birth. But didn't want his son to box for the country of his own birth.

    Bit strange.

i'm english and I'm a Calzaghe fan, and so are a lot of my mates. I've got some mates who dislike him, but they are usually over the over-patriotic ones who sleep intheir england shirts! Bit of a crap reason not to like him IMO but each to their own

The Evans Ashira fight was a tune-up because Calzaghe had broken his hand.

Yeah, the judge who gave it to Hopkins was Adelaide Bird...an absolutely **** judge. And it was only given by 1 point.

Between the 1st and 2nd fights Veit had gone 15-0 and worked himself into a mandotory poisition. His management offered Joe money he couldn't refuse and basically got the fight in germany where they were obviously hoping to screw Joe on the scorecards.

So Joe was in aa position of fighting a German fighter in Germany where he needed a stoppage to win. No 'home town' ref for Joe...and he got the stoppage win. It was a decent win considering the pressure on Joe.

Well he obviously isn't a boxing fan at all then. Just a typical UK casual fan. They know Hatton, Khan, Calzaghe and Frank Bruno. Lol.

Everyone knows that Enzo is as mad as a bag of spanners. It's not suprising for an Italian guy to want his son to represent Italy. It's perfectly understandable.

However, trying to make out that Calzaghe 'isn't Welsh' or whatever is pointless, as his mum is Welsh and he's lived in wales pretty much all his life. He has just as much welsh blood as he does Italian.

    GREAT POST!

Even though he definately would have lost to a prime Jones, and maybe even a prime Hopkins...IMO, Joe would have alot more respect than he does now, clinging on to his precious 0 losses as proof of his greatness.

Very good fighter, no doubt, BUT,,, in the end, his whole career is one big question mark. [What if???]

And then to proclaim "boxing is DEAD" after he retires!!! That sealed the deal for me.
    What a dickhead!

Lot's of people predicted a Jones win including B-Hop, Glen johnson and Carl Froch. It's funny what short memories people have

People are missing the point why the complaint is made that he gave Mario Veit a rematch.
The reasons for fighting him again are all very understandeble.... (easy high payday and so on)

The point is that you can not claim later that "i don't do rematches" when someone actually deserves one.
