So you thought his mum was Italian and they just happened to live in a town in South Wales? His father was a travelling musician and even when he settled down with Jackie he was always travelling. I live right by the Wales-England border. I'm 100% Welsh. I was born in Wales and my sister was born in Chester, England. Does that mean she is English? It is a simple fact that sometimes the hospital in Chester is closer than one in Wales. Half the people here are born in Wales and half in England. Does that make 50% of the population here English? Nope.
He was still unknown to many casual fans in the US at that point. Everybody knew Peter Manfredo Jr. Why do you say "Maybe you thought it was 50-50"? What have I said that would make you think that? Or are you just being a *****? The fight was crap mainly because of that fat, useless piece of **** Terry O'Connor stopping it way too early. And I could not care less whether she made it to the Welsh border or not. I don't care for South Walians.....I'm from the North! atsch
RJJ's resume does get questioned but Benn lost to Malinga, Eubank was busy defending his Warren Boxing Organisation belt and Colins didn't stand a chance anyway. Calzaghe wsn't really on the radar at the time as RJJ moved up to LHW. But when you look at RJJ's resume and JC's Jones wins easy. Jones has the better Resume but it could be better, much better but we could say that about all the SMW of that era.
go suck on a lemon ffs, theirs a thread like this every single ****ing week and stop giving the "im a former fan" shite, that one is always used as well, i opened the thread to see what king krish was saying this time, looks as if someone else has picked up the mantlepiece
The Lacy fight put him on the map trust me. It went from who's this British white guy to Damn this guy can fight. Guys at work couldn't believe it. I made some easy money that night. Yes the ref did stop it too early but it wasn't necessary Manfredo didn't have chance, you know it so why can't you admit it? Lacy was a big name in the states and JC whooped him. He didn't need to fight that joker.
I've given some valid points. I never said JC wasn't an excellent fighter. I'm questioning his career decisions. I am a former fan, I just got tired of the **** defenses. Maybe you couldnt' afford a sky subscription but I help fund his WBOgus defenses so I have right to complain. Do you not feel he could have made much, much better career choices?
Should he have fought Inkin instead? How do you think that would have improved his resume or advanced his career?
im actually a big fan of calzaghe because of a few traits like how pissed he gets when hurt when he got off the floor to ko mitchell after being down is stuff i like to see. however! i was a bit disappointed he finally decided to go to america and fight hopkins and jones at the end of their career. yes joe is old himself, but i do think jones slipped way more than joe has, and bhop despite being amazing for his age still can't be as good as previously. (however saying that i still believe joe in his prime might have beat both in their primes. jones jr would have had more of a chance for a ko win but still). and the other thing that disappointed me was going on about how boxing is dead etc. i mean seriously joe, back the sport and fans that made you rich! so aside from those two things i wish had been different, im still a fan, only a bit disappointed.
christ almighty half of your pionts are ****ing invalid anyhow maybe your the one who should **** off 1 do you really think he was happy fighting some of the compitition he did, he mentioned in his book he wasnt happy 2 WBO is a worthy belt, having said that they should leave warren the **** alone 3 offering bernard 3 million quid should be effiecent to set up a fight are we not agreed 4 lacy was hyped as a mini tyson before jc ruined him 5 he wernt obseesed with being undefeated, why would he look to face kessler and b hop 6 if i had a broken hand i wouldnt want to face glen johnsen who was a journeyman at that weight 7 what would giving up the wbo belt do to attract a fight with ottke, who avoided jc like a bad smell and who wanted to fight ottke in germany anyhow 8 mario veit was his mandatory, if you want to get a big fight it helps if you have a belt 9 joe calzaghe, the most avoided person in boxing during his reign
I'm not even going to waste my time arguing your points. Its nutthuggery at its best. He ducked GJ twice and thats a fact. He could have dropped the WBogus belt and he would have been mandatory for Otke's WBA and IBF belts. He could have rid the boxing world of Otke but he didn't. So you admit half of my pionts are valid? Whatever, Look at the man in your Avatar. He's going to fight a genuine star in his first defence, now thats what i'm talking about. I'm not sure if Froch will win but he's got the right attitude, he wants to face the best.
