There's so much of this **** in boxing. My old trainer George James (old time Philly trainer) told me that it's pretty much commonplace for fights to be fixed, as there's a lot of boxers who don't care that much about their records and will gladly take a fall for some money (Malik Scott)
On top of that so many are taking some kind of ped and loading gloves. His first response to Margarito getting caught is "man everybody is doin **** like that"

Unfortunately, the more things change, the more they stay the same. The weird thing is I don't know why this generation of fans is so surprised (and in some cases, in denial about) things like what you and the author describe. They never stopped.

    BUMP.

It's one thing to wonder, myself I didn't think McNeely Tyson was fixed other than fixing a tomato can (no offense @Tomato(e) Can :) to ensure Tyson would look good.

But I do wonder about Clottey vs Pac.

Marquez basically stopped short of saying Mayweather's fights were fixed a few months before the Berto one. Said he turned down a rematch because "Floyd is a protected fighter in Vegas and will get rounds you think you may have won."

    No, not his entire career.
His fights up to 135lbs were real. But Humberto Soto, Joan Guzman, Edwin Valero and others were chasing Pac and Pac didn't want to fight them, cause he knew he would lose, so DeLahoya helped Pac by giving Pac a FIXED fight with OScar first, and since PPV #'s were extraordinary, Delahoya w/ arum , behind the scenes arranged more fixed fights for Pac in the 147lbs, to keep the Pac v Floyd fight in plans.

It was when he jumped to 147lbs, when his fights needed to be fixed against the big boys-Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, etc.

They needed to have those fights fixed to keep the Pac v Floyd happening.

    its possible.

He may have been hung by the guards and it was covered up as a "suicide".

or they may have faked his death, and now have him prisoner as a slave in a hidden secret society.
