firstly, yes separatism is a word. and your intended use of it here is grammatically correct.

secondly, if we're going to bag mundine, let's keep it real. i've always said there's plenty to criticise him for without resorting to hyperbole or making **** up.

he does not promote separatism ffs. he does a lot of advocacy work on behalf of less affluent aboriginals. i think the implied criticism of mundine whenever he brings this sort of stuff up is that as someone who is financially successful, he's too far out of touch of the real cause he's rooting for. this is of course absurd. it'd be liking having a dig at an intelligent person for criticising the education system simply because he's intelligent and therefore not suffering from the infliction against which he rails.

the fact that he has a rather sizable chip on his shoulder regarding this matter isn't ideal, but hardly unique among aboriginals of his generation.

really not overly aware of too many black fellas who had it "easy" growing up in the 70's and 80's tbh.

hardly an incorrect assertion though, was it? for all people love to bag mundine's financial motivation in this sport, he's not exactly a corporate *****. let's not forget he started the Boxa line because he was being offered considerably less to endorse other products than was being offered to equally - or in a lot of cases, less - accomplished fighters.

for all the stick given him about the money he's made, it should be noted mundine has made the overwhelming majority of it by selling his fights to individuals, rather than through corporate endorsements and the like.

now, you can argue that is more down the the fact that he has the PR skills of the gestapo, but that is irrelevant.

that comes back to that sizable chip on his shoulder. not sure why this is a criticism of him though. plenty of sporting teams and individuals operate with siege mentality. hell, sir alex ferguson has made a career out of it on the way to becoming one of the greatest football managers ever...
