Barrett actually weighed 222.5 against Valuev and Haye has yet to weigh over 217 at Heavyweight.

 

I don't hink Haye will be much off 217 for this. He has said himself that 16st is all he needs

Nobody cares about Valuev - Haye. The WBA "title" is worthless.

I fear it will be a snoozefest like all Valuev fights, Haye can't change that, it needs two to tango.

I would have much preferred to see Haye - Vitali. Unfortunately, the boxing world will highly likely NEVER see this fight now, given that Vitali must be < 12 months from hanging up the gloves.

 

I agree. I would advise Haye to use his stamina with caution so he doesn't become exhausted too early. Valuev may be slow and plodding, but he learned how to have enough stamina to be a pain in the neck for his opponents for a full 12 rounds.

If Haye goes for an early KO and doesn't get it he might end up losing many of the later rounds if he gases, especially if there's lots of cliching. Imagine a 350 lbs slob of lard weighing on Haye's back in every clinch. That's Valuev's "strategy".

Haye should be quick and smart enough to pull off a counterpunch strategy like Chagaev did, largely avoiding Valuev's punches and avoiding those infight clinches that drain energy. Valuev looked pretty helpless there.

 

I will have to go back and see what height they had him for the Valuev fight, I thought he was closer to 6'1"? Haye looked bigger than him when they were in the ring together, but maybe I'm wrong.

 

i am going with valuev to stop haye late. the hairy beast is durrable and haye has stanima issues also haye will be using muscles that he typically wouldnt use as his posture and angle of punches will be different than any other fight he has had.

 

Yes, but Chagaev had good stamina for 12. When Valuev was still a contender, several of his opponents outboxed for 4 - 6 rounds and then slowed down. Suddenly Valuev was fast enough for them, since he doesn't slow down, for a huge man his stamina is pretty good. It is also possible that Haye hurts his hands on that big hand, a few of Valuev's opponents complained about that.

I think it will all come to how much Haye has been ableto improve in ring intelligence ans stamina despite rarely fighting.

 

How's Valuev cut wise?

 

I dont remember Valuev cutting easy. I think Haye might have some issues with Stamina.

Its a way to get that title away from Valuev, so its a good thing.

But then again, the main reason why the title needs to be away from Valuev is due to King......and we know King will get a piece of Haye in exchange for giving him this titleshot.

I thought Valuev was 7'1"? In any event it will be a challenge for Haye to land on Valuev's head. I do see Haye beating Valuev, but it will come by UD imo.

Yep. I don't think any of us can understand how energy sapping it must be dealing with such body mass.

BTW Unless you have new info, there is nothing I'm aware of that will stop this fight happening including Ruiz
