I definatley sense some unease inside PBF. I think it is because he has kind of been trying to show his vulnerable side on 24/7. All of that ' my father used to beat me for no reason, all I wanted was one on one time' and also with the physio saying 'she agree I shouldn't fight much more' It gave me the impression that he was saying to the audience 'make the most of me, I wont be around too much longer' He is trying to act humble in these segments and I believe that it is orchestrated and calculated. Despite all this he still gets booed. He talks about the work he does for deprived children, still gets booed. Gets his kids on stage holding his belts, still gets booed. No wonder he's got a bit of a complex. I don't think Hatton has got in his head, I just think he's struggling with the pressure of playing the heel all the time. I think he went on Dancing with the stars to change public perception, but that doesn't seem to have worked either. All of this could lead him to elect to stand and trade, and ultimatley his downfall. But then again, maybe he really doesn't give a **** about public opinion and he just loves the money. I thin kHatton could have got him at the right time, mentally.
His own fault for the **** he was saying on the press tour. if he loses he will be humiliated even more. Hopefully the new generation will learn from it to respect your opponents
You make a lot of good points, however I don't think Floyd's public persona issues will effect him in that ring. Losing is not an option for him in this fight. Everything he's built himself up to be as a fighter will be crushed with a loss in this fight. Hatton better go in there in try to win using a superior gameplan rather than hoping Floyd fights a dumb fight.
Exactly what i'm thinking. Hatton is forcing him to do what he did in the Jesus Chavez fight....bringing out that insecurity...that bravado he has about himself. Sorta marty mcfly ish ...chicken idea. NOw there is a chance, especially of PBF gets behind, Hatton will get his type of fight.
Oh yeah, don't get me wrong he's brought it all on himself. I have no sympathy. But if he does all that trash talking for business reasons (hyping fights) he should have been sure he was mentally strong enough to deal with the consequences.
Totally agree, i exect best floyd tonight. BEcause of the style clash i still think ricky has enough but he'll need to box at 100%
all this crap goes out the window once hatton hits him with a good punch then floyd will punish him till he does the drunken dance pt 2 like he did against collazo !
Floyd actually did alot of running in that Chavez fight. He would fight on the inside, get his shots in, and when he felt Chavez was getting in too many shots, he started moving and picking him off on the outside.
Ok another question. Do you think that the crowd going ape **** every time Hatton goes on the offence will affect PBF? Don't forget this is his OWN BACK YARD. Also OT will it affect the judges, a half landed shot with a big roar of the crowd behind it can give the impression it was a lot better shot than it actually was.
This was the same scenario in the DLH/Mayweather fight. It won't affect Floyd, however it could pursuade the judges. The judges in that fight had it alot closer than it should've been, they could've be pursuaded by the crowd.
So you think them ******ed football yobs who call themselves "Hatton fans" would have been watching "dancing with the stars? , they would have booed either way just like they booed Bernard, and most of the people who have tipped Hatton either hate Floyd out of jealousy or are promoting Vicky i.e the Golden girls!!, as i've said before people can't take a brash black man being on top in the game!!.. that's why i respect Shane Mosely as the stupid British press have been asking him to pick a winner and they expected him to say "Fatton" like the rest of the deluded fools but he said "he isn't picking no-one and he just hopes it's a good fight", i've even heard respected british boxing critics and boxers picking Floyd to win, so he's not as hated as people think, otherwise he would have been the first to be booted out of that reality show!! :deal ,
I rhink PBF would have been expecting to be second crowd favourite to Oscar, **** anyone would be. Nut to be the bad guy twice in a row and have a guy who I really think he doesn't respect from the other side of the world more popular in his own back yard?? He has been mentioning the fact that he is made out to be the bad guy all the time quite a lot lately. I'm not sure it will make any difference in the ring but I just find it interesting that he seem sto be trying to deconstruct the image he has so carefully crafted over the years.
Nah HBO will not allow their main money getter to be robbed BigReg!!.. Floyd's safe with them, especially in his own back yard ,
well I don't know 'cos I'm not there but the reports here in UK are that even the Americans would LIKE Hatton to win. You stating pundits picking PBF to win has nothing to do with popularity, it is about skill. That is not what this thread is about. Yes the UK fans out there would boo mother Theresa if Hatton was fighting her but the media in general seem to have a disdain for PBF and I think it bothers him.
Unless something drastic happens, Floyd will pretty much always be seen as the bad guy, that's just how it's going to be with him. There are alot of reason people don't like Floyd, one of the biggesst reasons is that everything goes his way. People would be much more forgiving of his antics if something bad happened to him every now and then. Nothing has happened to him to make him a sympathetic figure. Ali was similar to Floyd in that he was extremely arrogant and talented. He also constantly disrespected his opponents. They booed the **** out of him early in his career. People didn't start liking him until he decided not to go in the Army, and was kicked out of boxing. At that point he became a sympathetic figure.
