A lot of people think Floyd disrespects Ali by call himself the TBE. When in actuality I think he calls himself "The BEST Ever" and not the "G.O.AT." out of respect for Ali and the other greats who have came before him. I think Floyd literally means he is the best "boxer" ever as in skillset, not necessary the best "fighter" ever.. Statistically, he is the "best" ever or at least in the last 30 years. He has highest connect percentage, opponents land on him the less than any other fighter, he takes the least punishment, and the list goes on and on. These are facts. I think he knows that popularity and humanitarian wise he will never be compared to Ali because of what the Great Ali had to endure (extreme racism, stripped of his titles, stripped of his prime years, etc..) and the strong cause he stood up for. So by labeling himself as TBE and not the G.O.A.T., I truly feel Floyd is giving the proper respect to Ali, while still defending his claim as the best boxer to ever lace up the gloves.
Mike Tyson called himself the same damn thing, he's really got the nerve calling Floyd out on it. [yt]FWeD5KXx5WI[/yt] 0:54.
he calls himself TBE because it's a clever marketing slogan, his undefeated record also makes him look TBE (for those who don't remember/have never watched past greats, that is)
Good points. Though I just was explaining why he doesn't call himself the G.O.A.T. out of respect for Ali and others. Good points nonetheless. I think these are part of it as well. But I do think he literally feels he is the best boxer ever.
This was the first interview I thought of when Tyson said Floyd was delusional for calling himself the TBE. I admire what Mike has accomplished isn't he sport no question, but I really have lost some respect for him a of late. He still is a funny dude though, lmao!
It is quite an accomplishment to fight someone over 12 rounds and for neither 'fighter' to have a scratch on them and zero damage done. People are ****ed off because they paid ****ing 100 $ to watch Floyd run, and occasionally throw weak pitty pat arm punches and they were ripped off. I watched it for free and was disgusted. Floyd threw 3 real punches that he actually tried to put any power into, at the beginning of one of the later rounds .
