Are you sure she wasn't saying Ugatz? Like Feech? On a related note, Dan Fielding is supposedly making a comeback. Hopefully Bull too. Sadly no Mac or Harry or Markie. They should have done this years ago. Now they don't got ugatz, like poor Sal Vitro.
To be fair I understand most of those losses were at 140 pounds where he should not have been fighting. As for sparring stories re: Josh Taylor they are irrelevant because I have seen with my own eyes the difference. CEJ and George Groves is a perfect example of why you should not put to much faith in sparring sessions.
I always dismiss the argument of a fighter "performing up to the level of opposition" as if that excuses crappy fights but Ugas might be the rare case of the argument being true. I've seen him do wonders at the ams (with rumors of being chinny) then losing to pros he had no business giving away rounds to. Often successful Cuban amateurs meet big dollar bills and lose dedication, those "Irish Cubans" w/Perez or what was his name, Gamboa having power one day then losing the next, Odlanier and many, many others just not living up to the billing. Yet with a lay-off & a kid, Ugas seemingly turned his luck around and showed up, weight suits him, skills are obviously there and looks fully committed which is a must. I just dunno if I'm excusing him and his imperfect career path and I do know even with life's curveballs Spence's is fully committed to camp, has the power, the skills and the resume, and just illogical to pick against. But I do wish Ugas to perform up to P4P level and not fold like his peers and be the exception for the rule.
I did call it right tonight, Spence by TKO 10, it may have been erased but I called it on page 1 of this thread.
Boxing fans like you really annoy me. Boxers are still human! You act like fighters are never allowed to feel pain or get injured! And if they do you accuse them of ducking someone or quitting! As a person who is learning to box with hopes of reaching the amateurs I wouldn’t want someone like you criticising me for getting injured which is impossible to prevent.
Well you were wrong Spence stopped but credit to Ugas too as he was extremely tough and capable. Spence just had that X factor the special ones have.
