Vitali would be Tyson’s kryptonite at ANY stage in his career. Big bro was Tall, rangy, TOUGH, Not intimidated, Let’s his hands go from the start, strong, good jab, great movement, GREAT reflexes, good puncher... Tyson would get ****ed up real good in that one.

It was fairly close to happening in 2004 and didn’t do to Williams and other things... I would’ve have loved to see Vitali retire Tyson in style.

Robin Givens. Mike Tyson was on anti-depressant drugs prior to that fight if memory serves. Look at the video. When he came into the ring he just stood there. No pacing, flat expression. Saw a lead up to the fight. Inside camp stuff. Bunch of dumb jack ass clowns standing around doing nothing. When they were asked what their jobs were, they said "just keep Mike happy man, what ever he wants, play ball." etc. His head was not on right. The corner did not have in swell(sp). used some rubber gloves to keep down swelling. unprepared as they could be. He also did some interview with ....was it Barbara Walters/ Sitting stil as he was eviscerated. not good for the head. Douglass was ready and Tyson was there for the taking. His original team that got him to where he was.....gone. Dance with the partner that brought you.

Yes, I said he went downhill but going downhill does not mean
not being successfull. In saying going downhill I truly mean his dedication, stamina, defensive awarness, timing, all those kind of things started to erode slowly but much more faster that it should have been with normal aging process (he was still a kid)...In Tyson's personnal case it was not because of age but directly related to Cus's death.

Mike Tyson lost because on February 11th 1990, Buster Douglas was having his for one night only epiphany, and Tyson was having a bad day at the office, combining the two and you have Douglas as the winner.

Like Leon Spinks before him Buster Douglas won the top prize and lost it in next fight, however despite that their names are engraved forever in boxing history, as having been undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, now that is a very elite group for any boxer to have belonged.

Marcianos quote sums it up for me "What could be better than walking down any street in any city and knowing you're the heavyweight champion of the world"

He would have been GOAT with Cus by his side and Rooney to carry the torch.

That's very optimistic thinking, likely absurd.

He was knocked in to bolivian by a one hit wonder and you claim he would be the best ever had he had senile Cus beside him.......

Definatly focus was the difference, best post of the month there pal. Tyson constantly needed to be focused and couldn’t do it himself without Rooney it was an impossible task.

I wouldn't say that's entirely true. I would agree Tyson still did very well without Cus so you are right there, he became champ and dominated for a few years, but long term, it could be argued that without Cus around he had no one he respected to keep him in check?

We dont obviously know this for sure, to assume Tyson would have been the best ever and Cus would have completely controlled Tyson's wild ways is probably not true either. I tend to sit on the fence a bit here. I think it falls somewhere in the middle, Cus would have been a positive influence in his life, Tyson would likely have been loyal to him but it wouldn't all be roses, as it wasn't when Cus was alive.

I'd find it interesting to see if King would have been able to turn Tyson's head in the same way if Cus was still around, its easy to say yeah King would have won this battle, both brothers from the hood etc, but you have to also remember Cus was drilled into Tyson's mind, he might not have had full control of him but he had a fair amount. Tyson boxed to make Cus proud of him, that was his motivation.

I think Givens would have been the bigger problem for Cus. women mess everything up, they split up the Beatles for Christ sake....

I except all but, the Cus D'mato excuse. Cus had been dead for almost 5 years when Tyson lost to Douglas. He may have been more deticated but if Cus had lived but, you can't use Cus as an excuse for Tyson's loss.
