If one subscribes to the theory Pryor did indeed get an illegal boost then your post makes a great point. Arguallo left a LOT of himself in the ring that night.

Arguello was the bigger man. Pryor was a lightweight fighting at 140 because that is where he finally got a shot at the title.

Thanks for the response RC which is where I was going with it as well .. Everyone talks about all these great fighters at 140 .. but no one mentions Napoles ... why not? he fought there , he weighed there, so he needs to be discussed there .. Anyway that is how I see it ... But I guess your explanation is better ... they just didnt want to get in the ring with him

Pryor is not considered an all-time great. He shined brightly until the Crack got ahold of him. Watching him fight? His talent is obvious. Uncommon ability, tenacious. A force of nature and entertaining as Hell.

Absolutely, this myth has grown wings , it couldn't have done anything . Whatever Pryor drank was still in his stomach not coursing through his veins .

He also had offers for a Mamby unification bout at 140 that he turned down.

Down at 135, yeah, I don’t think the champs cares to fight him.

Luis Resto said that Panama Lewis used to give fighters some sort of Asthma medicine to help with breathing and stamina. I don’t know the science behind it either and if it could help.

I have asthma and I have done combat sports. I can't think of any feasible way that asthma medicine would give you some huge boost in the freaking 14th round after an intense back and forth battle. Most medicine are simply going to help relieve wheezing or severe shortness of breath, they aren't going to give you some amazing boost in endurance it is simply used to treat flare ups of asthma symptoms.

Again for all the conspiracy theorist on this site.... Ask any Dr. Or do the research, theirs no drug a person takes orally that will have ANY effect on a person with in the 4-5 minutes left in that fight.
Not Cocaine, not herion , not ephedrine, not caffeine, not any drug or stimulant would have an effect in that short of time period.
Pryor could've been given a half gallon of liquid cocaine, the fight would've been over well before it killed him.

It was ephedrine. Blatant use of a PED.

The sympathizers in this thread are clowns who are stuck in the past.

Ever since i kicked in here I've said Pryor is overrated. He still is by many. Having said that I'd not argue too strenuously with anyone calling him great. There are levels of great and he could be argued to be on the lower levels. Tho Arguello was aged and well up in the weights he still put forth a tremendous fight and Pryor took some punches that would have felled a horse. His power was still evident almost three years later when he stopped Billy Costello out of no-where when 3/4 retired. Arguello would have beaten many a man that night.

Well I'm sure your much smarter than Dr.'s and health experts..
And Again why someone whom has a different perspective or opinion than yours are clowns?
Or,,, maybe your the clown because you can't handle a different opinion without the unintelligent method of name calling?

You can dig though my post history if you think I’m not a doctor.

It’s not even a commonplace use of PEDs. Downing ephedrine in the championship rounds is evil. The passes Pryor gets for that are based on emotive bull****. I suggest he get zero credit for the first Arguello fight.

Panama Lewis and Resto? Criminals. Pryor? Well, we don’t know blah, blah, blah. Call a spade a spade.

Did you consider, getting a boost (cocaine) prior to the last round, 11th, 12th, 13th?
