You are absolutely correct .. He is obviously not familiar with Pryor and the history with his manager Buddy Larosa and his contract situation .. Pryor publicly states in an interview that he was offered the fight and turned it down, $500,000. Not only that, it did go to paper, but I'm not 100% sure of the purse value … Do people really think SRL was worried about Pryor moving up and taking him on .. It's a mismatch, imo, Ray tears him apart

Ah ok so you are talking prior to when i am as well. Yes the fight came back around as well and would have happened after Ray beat Stafford.

Sugar Ray Leonard shoots down the Hawk in 5 for me.

Well neither of you characters knew the man or saw him when he was starting out and when he was on and off or knew his personal demons and how he ended up being an opponent that's OK ignorant spectators are welcome to jeer things they don't understand. Also by the way you talk and disrespect a man who took a fight under desperate circumstances of which neither one of you have any idea about just shows us who were in the game you guys are just fans. Knocking his first 11 fights shows that this is one of the few times you have looked at a fighters record have you seen Pryors? Tysons? a fighter that is a prospect beats the usual lowly suspects most fighters do not start out undefeated that long without being taken care of and being looked at for a contract those opponents are what promoters give promising prospects start looking at records fellas. Carl's issue was he and his brother Tom were of the belief that boxing was dirty and if they were going to make it they could do it without a promoter honestly it was this ignorance that hurt them especially Carl when he went from developing talent to opponent status last minute fights, fights when he was out of condition, unemployed and needing money just a card filler before he finally admitted to himself he screwed up he was never going to make it and retired. Now read the following story to get an idea of the opponent side. The entire point is I know where Carl was during this time and where Pryor was supposed to be and his competition was weak and not because he was ducked Mancini wanted him because his defense was so bad I thought the way he put his chin in the air was perfect for his hooks possible had his head been straight post Kim he might have beaten Bramble and fought Pryor. I would think that you "fans" would be looking at his record and asking yourselves why he was getting fed opponents up to his title shot? or if he was so good and dominant why didn't he just beat Leroy Haley and unify? why didn't he jump up to welterweight and beat the top 10 fighters and earn a fight for the 147 title?

Well here's a story for your virgin minds anybody that has been a fighter and worked with fighters will understand this and appreciate it. I had a friend who was 0-11 as an amateur he was playing with his kids in the yard when a local fighter trainer was driving the usual neighborhoods looking for guys to fight on a card against a promoters stable I was with the trainer since I was doing an exhibition on the card who told my friend it was $1000 for 10 rounds or $100 per round....yes it was shady as we soon found out.....but I knew that the trainer though a little punchy who had been a veteran of 90 pro fights and was Teddy "Red Top" Davis main sparring partner for years towards the end was an honest guy though a little gullible.....mind you this guy was a poor amateur with 11 fights and 11 losses but an iron chin.....my friend being a blue collar guy like most of us accepted it a $1000 in the 80's was not bad for a nights work....we showed up at the coliseum and after being told where the dressing room was we on our way went into the wrong room where the refs were getting ready they were smoking weed and 5 blunts rolled up sitting on the table they pointed us to our room....we finally get to our room the promoters announcer came in the room and spoke with the fighters and when he spoke to Kerry he was told by Kerry he had never had a pro fight before but when we saw who he was fighting the guy was listed at 15-0 10 ko's like I said he was part of the promoters stable of fighters...Kerry laughed and said yeah he will kick my butt but as long as I get paid I can pay some bills and get ahead.....When Kerry got in the ring he was given a fake record of 12-2 or something at which time I was in his corner he looked at me and the trainer/mgr Pete and raised an eyebrow and smiled....as expected Kerry's iron chin was legit but he took a thorough beating for 10 rounds? why did he take a 10 round beating? $100 per round and he could use the money and begged us not to throw in the towel because he needed the money. Another friend in a similar situation in need of money fought Jerry"Wimpy" Halstead for his title again without any pro fights and promised $1000. The promoter? Champ Thomas/Pat O'Grady...Sean O'Grady's dad the fight by the way was announced as for the WAA Welterweight world title when pay time came with Kerry sitting with swollen eyes and cuts the O'Grady gave him $100 for 10 rounds there was no contract to dispute just his word to the trainer/mgr Pete.....You see while you spectators criticizing fighters sit on your privileged asses there are powers and circumstances you don't even begin to understand because you self righteous idiots have never been in the trenches to learn how dirty the game is.

Thats OK ignorance is bliss and not understanding all the factors involved just shows how superficial your understanding is of a sport you guys claim to know so well.

I proved you to be a liar earlier. Sounds like you and your friends are woefully stupid. I was around boxing my whole young life in the Philly, NJ area in gyms and at fights. You lie constantly as shown. Now I see you & your friends are basically mental defectives on top of it. Crowley and the rest of your moron friends got what they deserved. Good beatings for thinking boxing is a game. Although Crowley took the cowards route and laid down. Real good friends *******.

I've also seen smaller fighters move up and whip Leonard; Duran and Camacho

Plain as day, Leonard turned down Pryor's challenge. I seen it and you seen it; you just dont want to acknowledge it

and no, I'm NOT impressed by Benitez

all that knowledge of old times and you still dont know ****

does anyone take this paltry offer seriously? that's his way of saving face because he's fearful of Aaron

when you duck another man's challenge, it means you fear that man

Ray had enough challenges at 147 where he didn't need to fight Pryor.

Exactly. The idea that Leonard was afraid of Pryor is ludicrous. Prime Leonard KO's Pryor no matter how much coke he does before the fight or how many black bottles he has during it.

And later on when the fight came back Pryor signed to fight him for 750,000 .. So your original claim that Leonard ducked Pryor is just you blowing smoke again … Pryor had EVERYTHING to gain and nothing to lose and he passed on it

Don't know what you mean by this?? Of course Ray was in the position to pick and choose who he wanted.. But Pryor was a huge name and everyone wanted to see it, and this was a great fight for Ray and that's why he offered to fight him … It made perfect sense for Ray.. Everyone pays to see it, he takes Pryor out and becomes even more popular of a fighter … if that's possible.. lol
