Froch and Kessler were great wins and he was quite young. That got him his reputation , but his resume is just awful since Dawson. Obvious P4P elite potential but really lets himself down by avoid all challenges for the past 3 years
Based on his resume which includes (Kessler, Abraham, Froch, Bika, Dawson, Miranda) all of whom have held a title at one point or another, His resume is also better than alot of active fighters during the time he was out Add the fact that he is a unified champion with a super 6 trophy says alot but in boxing its more so what you done lately and as of late its been nothing but a Sergey win can change that
It's been very frustrating watching how his career has unfolded these last 3 years. But it's not as though he's specifically avoided any real challenges, it's just that he's needed continuous tune-ups after having substantial breaks.
His loyalty has cost him a few prime years, but he has shown recently that he can still fight. Some of you guys opinions of his career are phony and some are reasonable. You don't forget how to fight when you've been fighting world class comp as an amateur and pro. You may not like him, and he may or may not beat Kov, but you have to respect who he has fought. Ward IMO would've beat Dawson at 168 or 175. Dawson just couldn't fight inside. But it's jmo lol...
Super Six.....End of thread His biggest test since then will be the Krusher.....Can't wait for that fight
Unfortunately for you boxing is not a beauty contest, Ward is top dog you like it or not to me second to Floyd the only crack in him is power but he's a pit bull infighting with a great defense and fast hands.
They can't belittle Ward and then should Kov beat him elevate the win over Ward as God's crowning achievement lol...
Double standards with Ward doesn´t end on P4P list. He has used home advantage (judges, ref, crowd), used dirty moves like headbutts against his best victories. In addition, he has always been the bigger guy. When he moved to 175 people expected he would loose that advantage but no, in his last three fights he has fought two 168 guy at 175. He has potential, but please, he doesn´t belong top 5 P4P.
He is one of the most talented fighters out there, but he wouldn't be on my current P4P list because of recent inactivity. If he beats Kovalev then I'd put him at P4P #1.
Look, he is rated because he is A: Black B: American... those two things shift a lot of boxers up the rankings but look at his resume, awful!! He has a lot of speed I grant him that but he still lost 4 rounds to robotic come at you Froch, he should have a shut out as stylistically Froch was perfect for him, hands down, come forward slow fighter and he lost 4 rounds! then refused to fight him in the UK lol and that is by far and away his only stellar win, yet George Groves did a much better job for 9 rounds on Froch in their first fight, like so much better, he boxed Frochs ears off, hurt him, put him down and sadly an insane stoppage cost him, but for 9 rounds he looked so much better than Ward did. Ward is trash and he is ugly too, I don't know if it's the steroids or the aftermath of what shoe salesman Boone did when he beat him, but something is wrong with his face.
