he has every right to have ego. the super 6 tournament was no joke. he wasn't favored to win it. he definitely wasn't favored to beat kessler. he has a resume that's unparalleled at the weight.
And people have every right to not like egotistical people and boxers in other weight divisions have every right to refuse to bend over backwards for Ward. The arrogance and ego doesn't really go too well with the religious stuff either imo.
You know you're good when haters rip on you for being a spoiled brat. Fact is Ward cleaned out 68 and the European fanboys can't say anything about that :hi::hi::hi:
Even if it was just E-rod level guys, the fact is if Ward was fighting 3 times a year and keeping himself in the public eye being dominant he wouldnt be having these problems. Its pretty easy to ignore a guy, whatever his belts, when he has promotional lawsuits and has no plans to be in the ring anytime soon at all. If he was beating people up on a regular basis and calling out [GGG, Chavez, Froch, whomever] live on HBO after delivering yet another asswhoopin he might actually build fan and network interest for a fight to the point where the other camps have to take it. He doesnt have to be obnoxious or brash about it. He doesnt have to go thug. Frankly I prefer clean-cut Andre Ward over bitter Andre Ward. He can call people out in a respectful manner and simply present a challenge. In Wards case, he would probably be better off being really respectful and polite about it. Appeal to the competitiveness and sporting nature of the fighters themselves , while offering the challenge. The when and where is important. The where should be in front of HBO's regular boxing viewers and the when should be after winning another fight by shutout.
what you call arrogance i call confidence. he's backed up all his talk with an undefeated record and wins over very good fighters. arrogance is a word i would use to describe an ordinary fighter like froch. he's not on the same level of a guy like ward. he doesn't have the accomplishment to back up his arrogance.
SOB Ward refused to allow Bute to fight in his own tournament which was made for him................Bute was a good fighter back then, but Ward would have refused to fight in his own tournament, so they left Bute out. STEVENSON CALLED OUT LIVE ON HBO, SAID HE WOULD FIGHT WARD AT 168, BUT WARD REFUSED TO EVEN ANSWER HIM. WARD SAID THAT KOVALEV WAS TOO BIG FOR HIM. Ward will only fight in his home town with his personal referee, judges, boxing commission, etc., Ward was the only boxer who never had to travel. Goosens made Ward, so Ward thanks them by taking them to court.........................what a spoiled brat he is. Ward said that he would beat both Klitschkos, yet he never signed to fight them.......................talk is cheap. Ward will spend the rest of his life in court...............
bute is, was and always will be a cardboard cutout he stepped up once - once - and got destroyed by carl froch, who wasn't even the best in the division saying bute was a "good fighter back then" is code for 'back before he fought anyone' same thing happened to Nathan cleverly, and the same thing may well happen to deontay wilder learn why hype is hype, and stop crediting fighters before they have backed it up
Bute was a better fighter back then though, if we're comparing his past with his post-Froch days. His style would have given Ward more trouble than Froch did. It's unfortunate that fight didn't happen first.
At that time Bute could fight, the loss in UK against Froch ruined him. Ward, at that time was afraid of Bute, but Ward is extremely afraid of Stevenson at 168 and Kovalev at 175. Ward claimed he could beat both Klitschkos, but refused to sign a contract to fight them. Ward is a legend in his own mind.............Ward is afraid to leave his home town...........
bute could fight...if he was pitted against b-grade SMW's if one fight against one top challenger "ruined him" then what does that tell you about how good he really was?
that was 3 years ago, wasn't it? what's Ward done lately? school 2 severely weight drained 175 lbers, nothing more career defining?
Far more than any European fighter. Here's a fact. Andre is still on top of 168. When Froch was asked about whom he wanted to fight, he kept Ward out of his damn mouth. Smart move! :rofl
