Why is anyone listening to Mike Tyson?

Because he's a ******, that's better than Floyd in Pac clowns' eyes. If you're not Floyd you can do anything. Heck, Pac committed adultery and stole going against his own God's commandments, the top 10 ATG sins. I'm sure he'll pray and praise God though before and after the fight. No hypocrisy there.

It's about money.

Boxing has always had at least 2 titles since the 1920s, since The Walker Law I believe.

Usually, but not always, one fighter had them both. Ray Robinson in the late 1950s is one example, I think he had one MW title at one point but not the other. The same for Archie Moore, I think.

The National Boxing Association was a precursor to the WBA, and the New York State Athletic Commission title was a precursor to the WBC.

After the titles got split in 1978 with the Spinks/Ali/Norton thing, Norton lost the WBC title to Holmes, and Spinks lost the WBA title to Ali.

Holmes had the WBC title for years and never unified with any of the WBA titlists. He gave up the WBC title because he didn't want to fight Greg Page, I think he got more $$ to fight Marvis Frazier. He was also having all these issues with Don King.

So the IBF wanted credibility and gave their title to Holmes, saying he was the real champ, he never lost it in the ring.

So then you had 3 main titles. Then the WBO came around. That largely wasn't even recognized in the US, even in the 90s. Fights like Morrison-Foreman and Bowe-Holyfield 3 were for the WBO title and no one thought "this is for a real world HW title".

 

I always enjoy listening to Mike. He sees things from an interesting perspective.

Tyson point was Floyd was claiming to be Great but he cannot take his kids to school without lots of security.

while as Tyson will walk down the street by himself in his prime or now as would of ALI

 

Not too mention he is the Youngest HW champion of the world ever, an incredible boxing historian as well.

 

The fact that Tyson is generally considered pretty knowledgeable about boxing? He has a historian's level knowledge of the sport.

Believe it or not, Mike does not run up to journalists and say, hey, listen to what I have to say. He does not stop random people to offer them his opinion, or stand on a streetcorner with a Mr. Microphone. People go up to Mike all day long, wherever he goes, to ask him what he thinks.

 

Mike Tyson was spot on.
