Why is B-Hop's 1st title defense on ESPN?

I expect others to back up their claims. Unless someone is lying, why wouldn't they?

 

Hopkins is fighting on showtime from I can gather, but it has been fun discussing how boring Hopkins is and how he got beat up by a white fighter after he said a white fighter could never beat him, haha.

 

I remember reading some time ago about the head of boxing for ESPN wanting to spend more money on better fights, and having fewer fights in general. This could be a by product of that.

 

Does espn still have that stupid ticker on the screen?

 

Too bad Hopkins isn't a lighter complexion latino boxer. He would be allowed to fight the Rubio's(Chavez Jr.) and Barkers(Martinez) of the light heavyweight division. And it would be on HBO.

Sarcasm. I thought Barker gave Martinez a good fight. I thought Barker, exposed Martinez as slightly over rated. Had Barker a little more seasoning, he could have beaten Martinez. Barker hadn't beaten anyone of note to get a title shot though, and he wasn't known by hardly anyone outside of his local populace over in the UK. I don't even recall him being ranked by the WBC until he was being pushed as an opponent for Martinez. He got a title shot, not having defeated a top 10 or 15 guy, and it was on HBO. To me, a titlist fighting a guy like that, who hasn't established anything yet, or even been tested at a top ten level, belongs on ESPN. Hopkins handling his mandatory against Murat, probably should be on ESPN. Just as Martinez vs Barker, and Chavez Jr vs Marco Antonio Rubio, were ESPN level fights. Just pointing out how the industry is.
