WTF is a HippoCrit?! Yes, he's a hypocrite and should be banned too if found guilty. The sport in general, and the HW division in particular, needs serious reform.

Bermane probably got word from the WBC that they will make him #1 challenger to Wilder's belt and Povetkin is out. If he got in the ring tonight and lost (he was a massive underdog) then he would have likely lost the mandatory spot.

It was a smart move. Either he is gonna get another opponent that is probably gonna be a much more winnable fight for the Interim WBC belt or another shot at Wilder. And maybe even get money from Povetkin for costing him a payday.

He was gonna get slaughtered by Povetkin. But he can move forward now, that was a good move.

He wanted a chance at the WBC title, and when that went away, so did he. You can say he shouldn't have had the chance to begin with and I'd agree with you...But be that as it may, it's understandable why he wouldn't want to fight if there wasn't anything there to fight for.

Of course fat boy Stiverne is a hypocrite and a liar.

Why would he fight if it isn't sanctioned though? What would be the point, bet Povetkin will never be sanctioned to fight in another world title bout again.

WBC said that after investigation, it seemed that he did not take the PEDs knowingly. That was their official conclusion anyway.

    http://www.ringtv.com/473459-stiverne-fails-drug-test-fight-povetkin-still/

"The WBC Board of Governors decided not to suspend Stiverne since they didn’t think Stiverne took it to get an edge in his bout with Povetkin and because it was apparently the first time he had failed a drug test. “There is no evidence that Stiverne intentionally or even knowingly, ingested a banned substance with the purpose of enhancing his performance in any fashion,” the WBC said after conducting an investigation.

The WBC will allow the fight with Povetkin to continue, it said, as long as Stiverne submits himself to a “specific testing protocol” designed by VADA, which Stiverne will have to foot the bill for, the WBC said. If he fails another test, Stiverne will be suspended and won’t be allowed to face Povetkin, the WBC said.

According to the WBC, Stiverne informed officials that he took a dietary supplement called SUPERPHARM in front of a WBC sample collector in order to “facilitate urination.” Stiverne also admitted to taking it “twice” because the “supplement staff at EOS Gym in Henderson, Nevada recommended it to him,” the WBC said in its statement.

“He was looking for a product that would help him with post-work out fatigue,” the WBC said. “He now realizes that he was very naïve by following a store’s recommendation of an off-the-shelf supplement while being ignorant of its contents,” the WBC remarked after Stiverne expressed remorse.

The WBC also took a soft approach with Povetkin after he tested positive for Meldonium before his WBC title fight with Deontay Wilder in May. Citing low levels of the pharmaceutical, instead of suspending him, the WBC ordered Povetkin and Stiverne to fight for an interim championship for the right to face Wilder."

Thanks, mate. Still think VADA or another independent regulator should conduct the investigations and hand down the final ruling. See no reason to specifically doubt Stiverne but we all know the sanctioning bodies are suspect.

This. He didn't go to Russia to fight for nothing. On another note Duhaupas is a fool and should fire whoever is advising him. You don't take fights like this on short notice. The David Allen fight was bad enough, but a few hours notice.

Stiverne took a dietary fat cutter drink of some sought, because he's obese. You can buy them online. Povetkin took Ostarine, a known body builder supplement. Both drugs have gone under the radar for too long. VADA seem to be quite thorough with what has been considered a PED. They'll be banning Lukazade and Protein Whey next.
