I think that Nard probably WILL fight Dawson after this fight.

Far from a fail. You simply picked out 2 bits to suit your argument and you yourself fail.

Calzaghe/Dawson Hopkins/Dawson are two completely different scenarios.

Calzaghe stated his intention to retire after the Hopkins fight saying RJJ was his last fight. Hopkins is still fighting and hasnt shown any intention of retiring in his next fight.

In the context of things the two fights are completely different. For eg Dawson and Hopkins are both American and it carries a certain significance for American boxing.

You get the point...i could go on and on but i cant be bothered. Im not saying Hopkins HAS to do anything...

I'll just add finally in connection with one of my other replies:

I guess one of the points im trying to make is- Why are some American fans not calling for Hopkins vs Dawson?? Theyd rather go on about Calzaghe vs Dawson it seems??:huh I dont quite understand.

Regardless, if Hopkins would win, its 'ohhh what a victory for the old man blah blah'...if Calzaghe wins it 'ohh he already lost to 40 yr old Johnson' and when he gets beaten the next time its 'Slappy's resume takes another hit':rofl gimme a break

Hopkins was written off pre-tarver fight. He was called shot after his losses to Taylor. Everything he was doing after was just a bonus for him.
Because fight fans had written him off, they didnt push him to fight anyone. Fight fans already seen him in big fights back in 2001 against Tito. 2003 against Hoya, and knew his best days are way back behind him.

Calzaghe on the other hand, had about 40 bums on his record, and then finally gets recognition after lacy win, then fight fans were obviously going to call him to fight better opposition, but he went on to fight weak opposition, in old pre tarver written off Hopkins, a European (unknown to american fans) Kessler, and a establish shot RJJ, and contender failure peter manfredo.
when there were opponents around like Pavlik, Dawson and so on. thats y calzaghe gets all this ****

Hopkins should take the Dawson fight. HBO's on board, It will sell enough for Hopkins who has taken plenty of modest paydays before (tonight for example. And by modest it would still be probably a milliion plus payday) Even if RJJ got by Green, would rjj/hopkins 2 really sell all that much more than hopkins/dawson?? Depends on the money, but the Dawson fight is the best available legacy fight IMO. Hopkins is great and has done some great things, but a win over Dawson at this stage would be one of his greatest accomplishments.
