Murat is a solid fighter, peeps. he's payed his dues. he's not some bum who hasn't done anything.

i know Hops is the big fave here, but it wouldn't surprise me if Karo shocks everyone in this fight.

the only time he's lost was when Cleverly gave him a going over. but Clev is a volume puncher who doesn't really give you time to get your shots off without getting hit back. Hops leaves plenty of time for opponents to get their shots off first due to him being very reserved in there. so that isn't going to be the problem for Karo. the problem is how he deals with the occasion being in with an ATG like Bernard. the head games and ****.

if he feels calm and ready in there, is positive, and gives himself a chance, he could pull this one off.

i am going for Hopkins to win, but a Murat in the right head space has the tools to take Bernard down. if that happens, you'll look stupid. Murat IS a good fighter. it's down to him how he goes about it.

I kind of felt like that happened, against Ornelas. Granted my final score was for Bernard, wide, but Ornelas did push him and make him look his age in spots. Since then Hopkins, except in the Dawson matches, has dialed back the clock and looked his timeless self. I'm going to assume we are getting the same Hopkins we saw in March schooling Cloud, which means that Murat - who is OK but not really nothing Bernard has never seen and no more dynamic than Ornelas - should be made to look stupid all night for twelve dreary rounds.

It seems like he will keep doing this as long as he persists in the ring - looking immune to aging several times in a row but with occasionally mortal outings dotted in. (great dominating Tarver, old against Winky and to a lesser extent Calzaghe, vintage dismantling Pavlik, ordinary in laboring with Ornelas and to a lesser extent shot RJJ, great twice against Pascal, poor twice against Dawson, masterful with Cloud...)

You really think Hopkins looked great vs Pascal.
He was floored multiple times in the early going against Pascal in fight one.
The rematch was closer and competitive than alot of people would like to remember.
My opinion is that Hopkins was made to look old even in the Pascal rematch.
A younger version of Hopkins of even a couple of years before would have handled Pascal without a hitch.

Yes, yes he was, but then he bounced back after maintaining his composure, and he thoroughly outclassed Pascal in that first fight.

Yes again, but even here, Hopkins fought far more aggressively than he typically has in the past dozen years or so.

Almost certainly, but that was kind of the appeal here - he was 45, and then 46, in those two fights, and he still bested (at least IMHO) a good young fighter twice.

I thought he looked OK against Enrique. Agreed, he was certainly rusty. As I recall, Hopkins was convinced that the powers that be wanted to box him out after he outclassed Pavlik, and I think he had like what? A 16 month layoff?

I don't recall him losing too many rounds. It was odd though, only in the sense that he seemed so pumped for fighting in Philly that I expected him to want to make a statement that was never made.

It's clear to me he was angling for the Roy rematch, and RJJ getting blasted by Danny Green wound up hindering the full potential on the appeal in that one. (I thought for sure B-Hops would stop Roy in that one).

Then it's a funny thing, because Pascal beating Dawson is what made the strategic opportunist in Hopkins jump for joy, because he knew the style match-up gave him a shot at history.

In an ideal world, Hopkins would have steered clear of Dawson and gunned straight for Bute (interview footage from that span of time enforces this Hopkins' objective).

But he was reluctantly forced to agree to give Chad a shot (which was only fair given he was pushed to the sidelines for so long) and then, of course, The Cobra demolished Bute, and that was that.

Hopkins is a freakin' genius at picking opponents and knowing his own limitations that have come (and accumulated) with age.

Loved watching the Ageless Warrior all these years post-Trinidad, and will enjoy every last fight he has the rest of the way. A truly unique one of a kind.

    WAR ALIEN!

Murat is not a top fighter and an easy win that continues the kool aid that poppy is still at the top. Hell, he got beat up by Dawson....LMAO. This fight, as well as hopkins are a joke.

Mandatory. That belt keeps him relevant as he will have a chance to make history with every defense.

He didn't look too great getting out boxed and out fought against Clerverly.

If you're getting beat by Cleverly pretty easily then his name and good shouldn't be put in the same sentence.

Murat is a bum, i hate fights, when you know that opponent doesnt even have a punchers chance, zero intrigue. 90 yo Hopkins in wheelchair and with broken right hand can outbox Murat.

Erm, Murat is mandatory? This has been in the news all year and has been postponed twice.
