This will change your way of thinking ...

Juan Carlos Gomez: Gold Medal, World Junior Championships ( age 17 )
Joel Casamayor: Gold medal, World Junior Championships ( age 18 )
Felix Savon: Gold medal, 1987 PanAm games ( age 20 )
Ariel Hernandez: Gold medal, World junior Championships ( age 17 )
Emilio Correa: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 18 )
Rolando Garbey: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 20 )
Adolfo Horta: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 20 )
Angel Herrera: Gold medal, Olympics ( age 19 )
Jose Gomez: Gold medal, Olympics ( age 21 )
Roberto Balado: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 20 )
Hector Vinent: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 18 )
Ramon Garbey: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 20 )
Mario Kindelan: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 21 )
Guillermo Rigondeaux: Gold medal, Olympics ( age 20 )
Diogenes Luna: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 21 )
Odlanier Solis: Gold medal, PanAm games ( age 19 )
Yordenis Ugas: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 19 )
Roniel Iglesias: Gold medal, World Championships ( age 18 )

and there's plenty of more Cubans who win Gold in their late teens to early twenties. The problem is that since there's no pro boxing in Cuba they have to stay as amateurs for their entire careers and then yes they mostly fight younger opposition while they are older. But the fact is that they were " stars " when they were young and this is what needs to be looked at.

    :good

That's the dumbest **** I've ever heard. Castro banned pro baseball in Cuba too, were they run by the mafia?

He banned boxing because everything must be for the greater glory of him and the revolution.

If you can make money by going pro then you're not under their thumb as much, so obviously they don't want that.

After Teofilo Stevenson's death, George Foreman was quoted saying that he thought Stevenson could have beaten him, Ali, and Frazier had he came and went pro.

Just read that, I think here. Stevenson always said something like "what's millions of dollars to millions of your own people who love you"

Not really. Before Castro, Cuba had 6 pro World Champs and almost all of them were all time greats. Communism just switched their talents and applied it to the amateurs.

    Sounds stupid to you?

Imagine what your threads sound like to us?

Go to wikipedia and look up Communism. When you come back? Answer your own question.
