Why is boxing the only sport where the older greats are always better?

That has more to do with the emotional bond to games you played in your childhood.

While I love newer games, nothing will compare to games like Golden Eye 64 or Resident Evil 2 or Sonic 2. Stuff like that.

it might be because arguello dominated the super featherweight years for several years compared to pac who only jumps from one weight class to another.

if only pac had dominated one weight class but at the same time hopping other divisions to defeat the best fighters then we wont be having this debate about him and arguello

 

40 years from now, we would be saying things that floyd mayweather IV would not hold a candle to his grandfather who was an unbeatable and an oldschool monster until he run across the boxing gods of 2000 juan marquez and manny pacquiao.

I mean Lennox Lewis was DESPISED during his run. People just hated the dude...compare that to how he's viewed now.

20 years from Manny Pac will be considered a god. It's just easier to deal in hindsight.

You have reversed the situation..You are more or less saying that Marquez and Izzy can go up in weight and beat Pep..when Pep showed clear skills on par with anyone in this era at the weight and he routinely beat world class lightweights.

Mayweather loses to Duran and Chavez because all you have to do to make that prediction is to look at the Castillo 1 fight. That fight is the reason why Floyd Mayweather cannot win against Duran and Chavez.

Pac won't beat Chavez or Duran either. Pac lost to Erik Morales. Erik Morales is not as good as Duran or Chavez. That is why neither of them will lose to Pac.



Who gives a ****. These fights will never happen. Fighters today are stronger, faster, bigger yet can still fight in weight classes where past fighters were much smaller. But it doesn't matter. The past fighters are held so high on a pedestal I just about stopped caring all together about who ranks where.

Although I do still care a little bit, not as much as most people. Ive decided that these fights wont happen, and where someone goes down in history wont matter 15 years from now.

 

there's plenty of footage of old fighters available. watch them. that's where observations are made. fantasy match-ups? depends entirely on the fighters being talked about (like others here have said).
