Why is Bud Crawford not as big a star as Mayweather was?

Mayweather fought the cash cow and raised his profile. Crawford has never gotten the exposure to the casual audience like Mayweather did with De La Hoya. Also, Mayweather is an obnoxious piece of ****. Crawford is a humble family man. Crawford doesn't sell a fight like Mayweather because he has a rather bland personality.

 

Man y’all bud fans are goofy, Floyd fought better fighters than bud and was putting on big fights from the age of 21, til he retired. Bud only has 1 big fight in his career and that just happened on Saturday

 

Watch his interview on Hotboxin, he basically says he doesn't care to market himself and money isn't everything for him. He is a genuine dude, Floyd created a personality to sell fights

 

Crawford is a notorious non-marketer when it comes to his fights

Makes me respect Bud even more. A really humble dude who doesn't need to sell himself as the villain.

 

Crawford has been in my top 3 favorite fighters for well over 5 years now but his resume doesn't compare to Mayweathers.

mayweather being an obnoxious pos was all done on purpose. managerial stratedgy to market him vs every opponent who had large fan bases not just oscar. It started with gatti. He started acting wild around then aswell. Mayweather wasnt always an obnoxious idiot. Remember when he held out because naseem hamed got way more money then him. The money you make has nothing to do with skill. Floyd is a pretty smart dude. The best managed fighter of my day by far. Look at all the opponents he faced after gatti with large fan bases. Pissed them off and look at the numbers. Also look at the numbers when he fought a fighter with no fans......nobody watched it.

 

Floyd perfected the art of having people pay to see him get beat. It's showbiz and he got that. Crawford doesn't. Floyd was a tool, but he had charisma, Crawford doesn't. You can be the greatest fighter ever, but if people don't care about you then you are nowhere

 

He is not hated, that's the reason

 

if you arent flip or hispanic.......people only wanna pay to see brotha with serious power. They careless about hit n not get hit technical skill

 

crawford is only going after meaningful fights. Anybody that thinks hes fighting ennis or thurman dont know crawford. If he wants to help out errol and make errol another payday i could see him doing that. what he wants is charlos belts number 1.

 

Mayweather worked his arse off making everybody and his mother watch him loose. That, and he fought real killers.

Bud doesn't care about marketing and for one reason or another didn't get into the ring with top of the crop. Spence win alone likely boosted his popularity immensly. If he continued to face similar opposition he would get the exposure to the general public.
