WTF are you talking about? Bika's spent half his career at SMW. He drew with Beyer, who was recognized as a top 3 guy at the time, and he gave Calzaghe one of his toughest fights. He's since gone on to dominate Manfredo, Soliman and Codrington, none of whom are spectacular, but all of whom are decent B-level wins. Bika's resume is stronger than Allan Green's. It's also stronger than Robert Stieglitz's.
Ward's win over Kessler is, IMO, the standout win of anyone at 168 at the moment but one win doesn't necessarily place you at the top of the tree. Aside from Miranda, the rest of his record is really padding and he didn't always look great beating them.
You appear to have not read my post or the post it was replying to. Manfredo, Soliman and Codrington all came after Bika lost to Bute. I was replying to Maxime, who made the initial point. Maxime, of course, can't have it both ways because he doesn't credit Froch with good wins against Dirrell or Pascal based on what they have done after. Which was actually my point, so apparantly you agree with me, if you'd bothered to read it.
If he was about being a champion, then he would've made the super six, he didn't. And he's obviously perfectly content fighting left overs and never been's in Canada. Sorry, but he's your very own version of Sven Ottke.
The IBF didn't agree to participate in the super six, and Bute wasn't asked to participate in the super six. Could he have made the super six had he been invited? Of course, but by the time the super six was put together, he was already stuck in his rematch with Andrade on a rival network. We'll see what happens once the super six ends. At that point, there wouldn't be much of an excuse to not fight the top guys.
Don't be sorry for your lack of boxing knowledges. Just tell me what Taylor, Abraham, Ward, Green and Dirrell did more then Bute at SMW to be in the tournament. Just tell me. I don't think there is a confirmed #1 at SMW right now.
Like I said, Wards win over Kessler > anything Bute has done x10. And Abraham came from middleweight after Team Pavliks refusal to unify the belts, so he's got nothing to worry about, he's doing something to actually warrant any sort of support. I know Bute had unfinished business with Andrade as the super six tournament kicked off, and I am willing to give him some slack for that, but his title reign is destined to be a complete joke, and that's speaking the truth.
That's not necessarily enough though. Had Kessler been clearly the man when Ward faced him then you would have a point, but Kessler hadn't looked all that good since getting convincingly beaten by Calzaghe. Ward may well be the most talented at 168 and he will have a chance to prove it, but at the moment it is hard to justify ranking him above Bute, or even Froch, IMO.
Who is even around to offer him any kind of realistic resistance? :think Everyone is tied up with the super six in the division, except him and a few no-named left overs like Miranda.
That's not exactly his fault though. What is left he can mop up, the Super 6 will be done in the next 12 months anyway and he can then fight the winner of that, or in the meantime he might fancy a move up to 175.
