I think a better topic question would be:

why are some ESB members obsessed with hating Calzaghe and constantly starting topics related to this irrational hatred?

There's no point arguing with the haters of any fighters, far too exhausting and pointless. They'll believe whatever they want to.
Check out the latest David Haye thread, or any about Mayweather.

Chris Eubank was not a puncher then?

Jeff Lacy was not a puncher?

    Kessler isn't a puncher?

    Omar Sheika wasn't a puncher?

    Charles Brewer wasn't a puncher?

    Byron Mitchell wasn't a puncher?

    Ferreyra wasn't a puncher?

    Torres wasn't a puncher?

Unless the answer to all of those question is yes, then Calzaghe clearly either doesn't have a fear of punchers or doesn't act upon it. :good

Well if you were coming to the end of your career. Would you take a fight against an ATG for big money, or against a dangerous young challenger for less money?

If Calzaghe beats Jones, then it's up to Pavliks people to put a huge purse up to tempt Joe to sign for the fight. Pavlik could easily be ruined in this fight BTW.

Joe's undefeated status is very important to him, he's not going to risk it for an average purse. £7mil to £10mil he would probably sign up.

    Thats a lottery win.

Nice post. He fought and beat Lacy who was a devasting knockout artist. Kessler who is a knockout artist. Bhop has no power? How the hell did he drop Tarver at LHW? RJJ has no power? Ask John ruiz.

The last thing to g is power and Bhop, Tarver, Johnson, and Jones have not lost there punching power.

you can't say Calzaghe won't fight guys with ko power...then say you can't mention the guys he fought with ko power. Kessler and Lacy clearly have ko power. He fought them. Enough said.

Exactly what I thought when I first saw this thread. I'm surprised it took as long as it did for someone to mention it.

You could nitpick the exact same way about Pavlik's, Taylor's, or Tarver's power as you are about these guys. No difference.

This is exactly what I was talking about in my previous post.

You choose to hype up the punchers that Calzaghe didn't fight, and diminish the ones he actually did.

You could just as easily do vice versa, if you so chose.

In case you've forgotten, Johnson and Sheika were already in the ring with each other, and Sheika made it plainly evident that he was the harder puncher. He dumped Johnson on the canvas and had him afraid to come forward and fight his fight the rest of the fight. And rightfully, Sheika got the shot at Calzaghe instead of Johnson. Conversely, Tarver hit Johnson with about 20 billion punches square in the face over the course of 24 rounds, and Johnson just kept marching through them.

Yet Tarver and Johnson are the punchers, while Sheika is only just "decent"? :huh
