Why is Calzaghe considered a ducker?

simple.... because he didn't have a decent win until his 3rd last fight and only ever beat 2 great fighters, one of which (Jones) doesn't do anything for his legacy cause he was shot to **** and the other (B-Hops) was past his prime but still good so Joe gets credit for that one, only problem is half the boxing world had Hopkins winning and Joe retired without giving a rematch. So the guy was a champ for 11 straight years and managed to not fight a decent opponent until his 3rd last fight.....clearly a ducker....not his fault though, it was obviously Franky W but still kills his legacy

 

No half the boxing world didnt have Hopkins winning atsch. Try and rewrite history, but remember at the time many wanted Hopkins to retire after Calzaghe beat him and due to the way Calzaghe beat him many felt Pavlik would win. That was because Calzaghe made him look so poor.

Eubank fought ten years undefeated until he met one Steve Collins in Dublin and some dare to say this stiff cyborg would have succeded with Hopkins at MW. The only thing Eubank had was muscular strength such as Antwon Echols or Robert Allen so I suggest you to go see how Hopkins outmanouevred them. This calzaghe thang is going too far for my liking.

 

these superfights usually happen when the lower weight fighter makes the step up in weight to fight the higher weight fighter. did hopkins go down in weight to fight de la hoya or trinidad?

you have to bare in mind that 16 of hopkins first 22 fights were above the middlweight limit of 160, hopkins would have been clearly comfortable fighting calzaghe at 168.

after calzaghe record pay day offer to fight hopkins, hopkins fought 3 times against nobodys (making less for 3 fights than he would have done for one fight with calzaghe) before he met de la hoya. surely hopkins could have adjusted back to 160 easily by the time the de la hoya fight came around over 2 years later, especially as he was recieving a record pay offer.

the fight between hopkins and calzaghe was gonna take place in america, not wales

No, it is not Sir. Chris had that flamboyant entrances and star appeal yes, even I went to watch him live. Chris was supremely fit, muscular, disciplined and fearless. Chris came from the US as an amateur and had huge wins in memorable wars, comes up to my mind the win against Benn for the WBO MW Title and that fateful turn of events in that windy night for the vacant WBO SMW Title, the rematch with Watson when he was being outworked all the way and getting back up from a knockdown at the end of the 11th stanza, he pulled a monster uppercut that had Watson virtually out even for the beggining of the 12th... However, you watch Eubank perform and what can you make out of it - stiff, straight up, couldn't move his body cause he was so massive muscular ( had to make use of his legs, block shots or feint with his head), couldn't throw combinations b'cause his arms were so heavy ( hands on his waist and knockdown in the first by Joe), just jabs, one-twos with inaccurate right handers, right hand always weightin so much it would come down as he threw that shot, hooks inside... Let's face it, a monster of a physical specimen, nothing to do with a loose, adjustable and adaptable boxer... It work out for him even tho he lost to Watson the first time and to Benn in the rematch in Old Trafford and in my view until Collins showed him that you can not box standing still and just punch in spurts. Now, and I am sorry, look at Robert Allen with his power and specially Antwon Echols with almost all his wins coming by kayo... They had Hopkins backing up and eating a lot of heavy shots before fading down later on. Hopkins would have done the same to Eubanks. Toney would have taken the head out of Chris with one of his monster fast right hands like he almost did with former mandatory challenger Tim Littles and with a nasty cut that left for him 3 minutes to stop the fight or lose... Please watch it wherever you want these and tell me frankly what Eubank would have done against Toney? Comparing Littles or even Prince Charles Williams with Eubank doesn't make sense but putting Eubank in Littles or Prince Charles Williams place and seeing him go makes sense 4 me. Then, comparing Robert Allen and Antwon Echols and Chris Eubank like massive, powerful but stiff and mechanical fighters is not criminal at all, I am sorry.
