Why is Calzaghe not being heavily critized for blatently ducking Pavlik?

You mean Calzaghe after the Jones fight?
I'm pretty sure he won't come back, got no doubts at all, he waited long enough for both Hopkins and Roy to go beyond shot, who else is left?, James Toney and Glen Johnson?, too late. I don't care about what people say but this guy is no "all time great" in my opinion. A man who has been fighting cans all his career and only got a few major fights because the opposition decided to make an effort to go to him is no ATG, when did he actually call out for a REAL threat and went after them?, never. He has great skills alright but never used them as the public would expect him to. Why didn't Calzaghe use the same method Lacy did to get to him for a fight with RJJ or the MANY others he could've fought back then?, why didn't he use the method Kessler used to get to him as well?, and 43 year old Hopkins?...etc

beside lance the only idiot here is you in full force .. Pavlic hasn't beat any worthy fighters other then Taylor, you know that and I know that , if you don't know that then your stupid..
or maybe I should spell it out for you , it was a rhetorical question not a loaded question , a question you should have already know the answer to stupid.

At least Pavlik is coming off major victories, what has Roy done lately that you could compare with what Pavlik has done?

Very good points Scar. Lets say Lacy and Kessler said they didn't want to go to Wales. What would Joe C have done? :huh

He's fed us the "I've always wanted to fight in the US" line already. Yet for being a pro as long as he was, he finally did to face Hopkins, and now maybe Jones. Two fighters who in their prime where a couple of the best ever in their respective weights. Right above and reight below, two big fights and he's always wanted to fight in the US. Now we can all say who declined who with Hopkins or why he never fought Jones @ 175, but if Joe always wanted to fight in the US.....well. Why not MAKE it happen sooner? While both can be shrewd to negotiate, they aren't impossible to work with obviously.

    So because of you think:

    1. All of Pavlik's opponents weren't worthy (ALL you said)
    2. Joe is 36 and washed up (two old men fighting...)
    3. Pavlik doesn't offer as much money (yeah, since Joe's been fighting for peanuts his whole career)

....that he shouldn't try to make it fight. Same old song and dance with you. Just change the names around.

Pretty simple and clear bro, same thing he did when RJJ and the MANY others that gave him the NO, just move on fighting cans till they are -100% of what they once were then he'll go after them and get credit as he is getting now in PATHETIC fashion to whoever backs it up. Easy.

Trust me man, if Hopkins wasn't 43 as he said countless times and "too old" to beat him he wouldn't have traveled for that, I can ****ing assure you, he already declined a possible fight with Hopkins back when Hopkins was fresh as he declined RJJ and many others that came into his division and went up, just ask Glen Johnson, he'll have a long-ass boring discussion about how it's nearly impossible to get this man in the ring. It's pretty damn clear now that Hopkins and Roy DID want to fight this guy, when they're old and out of it and STILL accepted to fight him it's damn clear who wanted it and who didn't. When you want a fight you have to go after it, Calzaghe never did that ever in his career and relied on others doing it for him, just the safe road all the way to the very end, calling that an ATG is an insult to the real ATGs. Both Hopkins and Roy realised at this point that they ought to go after him to make the fight so they did just that, did Calzaghe do the same back in the day?

Hell the Margarito story can be brought up here as well. He wanted a fight with Mayweather SO bad that he kept mentioning it over and over it was publicised and heard by all because the man REALLY wanted it and had high hopes of winning, when you want a fight so bad you'll keep mentioning it regardless and the media will publicise it well enough when you make the effort of asking for it over and over, sooner or later they will HAVE to. Did Calzaghe do the same?, it's not like Calzaghe had 2 or 3 fighters only, maybe then we'll TRY to give him a pass but it's a ****ing LIST of fighters he could've fought but never did. ****ing Kessler was a new comer in a division he calls "his" and nearly captured the undisputed title with him in it, what does that tell you?

I agree with alot of what you say but after lacy and kessler who else was a threat at 168 .. no one ... the whole devision was soft and looking at his resume he just about fought everyone at 168 devision and because of that he has 22 title defenses and 10 year undefeated , no one else can make that claim at 168 and because of that he will more then likely go to the hall of fame ,, and so now he's cashing in his chips and going out on low risk high reward .. not saying you have agree with his decision but it is a smart one, that will guarantee his induction into the hall of fame , he leaves the sport on top and with cash in his pocket.

Roy is a name , easy to negotiate with at this point in his career ,past his prime, guaranteed gate in whales and a way to leave out on top with a named opponent .. thats what roy offers ..

Fact is pit that this guy has taken the "low risk high reward" road his ENTIRE career and people denying that or even defending it is disgusting to be honest and I have been saying this far BEFORE the Lacy fight. Kept mentioning it over and over about how Lacy is LITERALLY BEGGING to make this fight happen with not much answer nor care from Calzaghe's camp, same thing with Glen Johnson and MANY others before him that considered it but listened to this guy's LIST of excuses. Do you even know that a fight with Roy was getting closer and as it got closer than expected for Calzaghe he immediately developed an injury and Roy gave it to him in the face and told him he's not going to wait then moved up and for good reason(dominating another division), Calzaghe proceeded to do NOTHING but fight cans as he did his entire career without care nor effort to consider moving up for a fight he claims he wanted, you want recognition you go after it, simple, not everyone is Jeff Lacy and Mikkel Kessler. If this guy goes into the hall of fame then the hall of fame is a complete SHAME to me, a man spends his career waiting for others to run after him goes in there because of an 0 he protected well enough his entire career and in OBVIOUS fashion?, he has HOF skills no doubt about it but we wanted to see him use it against guys worth using it against. 22 title defenses and only 2 are worth mentioning and if those 2 didn't run after him then those won't exist either, come on bro.

That's what Calzaghe has been looking for all his career, to be exact.

Your memory is wrong. Toney was at cruiserweight when Calzaghe beat Eubank. He had been due to fight a title fight at light heavyweight earlier that year and had weighed in five pounds overweight.

This point has been destroyed over and over again on this board (and I'm sure it was you making it some of those times) and yet still you trot it out again.

And I will always mention it, why not?, the man was still an option and could've been called out but wasn't. If a 43 year old Light heavyweight Hopkins was an option then why not Toney?, or the MANY others the you failed to discuss about simply because you had a few positive points about Toney favoring your case. Toney could've still been an option if Calzaghe wanted it, did he?
