Why is Canelo Alvarez obsessed with becoming undisputed all of a sudden?

In mid-2019 Canelo held 3 of the 4 major belts after he beat Daniel Jacobs. The only belt missing was the WBO belt which Andrade held. Canelo chose to vacate all belts.

In his next fight, Canelo suddenly moves up two divisions to fight WBO champion Sergey Kovalev who he claimed was the best 175 pounder at the time. Canelo beats him and vacates immediately. What’s weird is that, this is after Canelo’s team claimed that Canelo was too small for the middleweight division but now all of sudden he can move up two divisions? What’s also weird is why he chose to vacate after supposedly beating the best guy in the division, wouldn’t every fight onwards be easier?

I’m starting to notice a lot of shady stuff with Canelo’s career.

Maybe because unified SMW is the first unification in history and it means to go in directly to boxing history books?

Do you think that being undistputed is not important?

You can understant that MW can be a big weight when you are 22 yo and a small weight when you are 30. Righ?

Do you want him to go full GG and stay in MW forever smashing tomatos?

I dont understand you tbh. Canelo is giving us all the fights that we want to. I wish other fighters do the same, tbh.

I posted this in another thread, it's because of the split from DAZN. Now he can bounce between promoters to collect belts.

Because 168 was/is a weak division. Smith, Saunders, Plant, all easily winnable fights.

Saunders isn't an easy opponent and will never be. I don't know what is your easy fight definition.

In fairness I gave Saunders the best chance of beating Canelo under 175, and I think Saunders could have been truly great if he had lived the life and fully applied himself. But we all saw how Canelo dealt with him with relative ease.

It wasnt completely one sided by any means, but Saunders never truly troubled him at any stage.

Yes, because Canelo is too OP. Saunders can give hell every other 160/168 on the planet.

curious cherrypicking when you cherry pick lara (a ****ing stilistic nightmare for him at the time), mayweather, gigi, jacob, kovalev, bjs...

Someone should tell him what's the objective of cherry picking. I think that if canelo is cherry picking he didnt understood very well what's cherrypick about.

Agree, if his injury heals up and he still has the motivation he can still be a force

Lara was matchmaking gone wrong.. But Canelo got a gift and bailed out.

36 yo Mayweather and 36 yo GGG were certainly cherrypicks..cherrypicks gone wrong. And he lost all three of those fights. Canelo Kovalev was a fixed fight.

Jacobs had dehydration clause and looked shite shortly after fighting Rosado.

Canelo jumped specifically to 168 becuase its cesspit of nothing. Callum Smith has a non existent resume, lost to Ryder, struggled against a kickboxer. Slap on a short camp and here we go all ready for the champ Canelo who fights anyone and everyone ay.. Totally not cherrypicked and card stacked.. And then there's his W against Billy Joe.. Yknow the blown up 160lber who won the belt of Shefat Isufi and hadn't fought a legit opponent since 2017 (who was Lemieux). How convenient all these conditions are for Canelo, he's just that good!!!

Saunders only just beat side show Eubank years ago & looked like dog **** against bums like Akavov & Coceres.. he couldn't even stop a 40 year old Martin Murray LOL.. The guy has zero legacy at super middleweight and hadn't fought a live body in years.. there is **** all evidence to suggest he would give any super middleweight or middleweight hell right now… Looking skilled against lower level competition years ago proves **** all
