Why is Canelo and Anthony Joshua Superstars, but Spence and Crawford aren't

Skill wise tbh it comes down to making an educated guess because they've just had very stagnant and boring careers with top level fights few and far between, Crawford moreso. I'd say yes they're top level fighters around the level of guys like cotto and dela hoya. But because they just didn't really dare to be great it's hard to really feel any hype for them. The day these guys fight each other is the day I'll consider them anything more than divas in my personal opinion tbh. Tho I'll say I find this far more applies to Crawford than Spence.

 

Because he had cross over appeal.

 

You cannot decide who is "better" when they do not fight in the same weight category.

British audience wouldn't care about a bunch of WW Americans. You might as well ask why Usyk isn't a star.

 

Actively fighting against top competition.

 

Cross over appeal means that people other than hard core boxing fans know who he is and tune in to watch him. Same with Ali, SRL, Oscar, Hagler, Hearns and Duran. These guys caught the public’s imagination.. wives and women know who Floyd is they don’t know who Bud is.

 

Fury more so than Wilder but not on the level of AJ and Canelo. Personality and identity plays a part.

No. Who do Crawford or Spence have on their resumes that indicates they are on the same level as Canelo?

 

Crawford lacks recognizeable faces on his resume so that people can see how good he is.
Even though Mayweather was allready known by alot of casuals, his money making did'nt start until he fought Delahoya.

Canelo has a list of recognizeable fighters he's faced. Mayweather, Mosley, and Cotto.

I dont think this Porter fight is going to do the trick for Crawford, it would have been a great benefit for Crawford if he or Spence would have fought Pacquiao.
The fighter you beat does'nt have to be in his prime or even very good anymore, just as long as people recognize the fighter you looked sensational against, it goes a long ways for people to want to see that fighter in action again.

 

Because Crawfish's resume is sh*t. Canelo and bodybuilder have solid resumes. Fans expect competitive opponents everytime.

AJ is liked by females in Britain who feels he is very attractive, he`s ligt skinned and very polite, he knows how to present himself to the British public, Bud isn`t media friendly, AJ has been on talk shows in the UK and adverts etc.
