Better question: Why do we still care about Canelo? He hasn't been in an interesting fight since.....since.......wow....it's been a while!
The face off between them felt so contrived. Like they were just going through the motions. It's a compelling fight but still sort of meh at the same time.
Canelo PED clinic got raided he can't KO middleweights anymore and Crawford is small, frail and old ripe for the picking
In Canelo's defence, he has rubbished the idea of the Crawford fight until he got offered a staggering amount of cash. Any boxer in the same position would've done the same.
There are guys around who think Crawford is going to run a boxing clinic on Canelo. And it's not guys that are slouched in sweat-stained armchairs gripping a six pack of pringles either. One particular dude that has expressed this opinion is a pretty good fighter IRL and knows what he is doing. I personally think Canelo is going to be way too big and powerful for Crawford, but, what the hell do I know? This might be a great fight, Canelo has been slowing down in the last few years.
Crawford is a weight bully. A very good one, but he walks around way heavier than 147 it's not that big of a drag. I actually think Crawford is one of the most overrated of titleists in recent years - looks very good in the ring - he is - but his record is trash. A win over Canelo would give it a real shot in the arm and Alvarez is on the slide. His feet get slower with each fight.
