He has undeniable power for WW. He gets props for getting in the ring with Margarito. He has some impressive KO's over journeyman, bums, and club fighters.

But the fact is, he hasn't beaten anybody noteworthy! He proved the fact that he has little in the way of boxing skills and defense in his fights with Margarito. He doesn't have a relentless pressure style. He just looks to land the big punch. Why does this man get so much praise around here?? Picking him to beat Cotto or any top 10 WW is a travesty..

I agree AJ. I dont know why he is so overrated. The only fight that makes sense for him is Cintron vs Judah.

i think his best win was over estrada. and what a win it was. back and fourth battle. estrada waiting for cintron to jab to counter with the right hand.
he is the definition of the word bully. maybe not in personality but in fighting style he is.

an aggressive powerpuncher buts falls apart after alot of pressure.

what i think gives him a chance against cotto is his long jab cross left hook comination that i thikn cotto is suseptible to.

He has a better resume than Andre Berto imo. A lot of people here seem to have him almost at journeyman status after 2 losses to a monstrous Margarito so I'd say he's underrated right now. He's definitely top 10 at WW imo, which is not bad considering how hot the division is.

Yeah, I agree. And Cintron clearly showed his offensive talent and athletic abilities in his most recent fight with Margarito. This is a fairly good fighter, not spectacular, but strong in certain areas. He's dangerous. Anyone who can't see that is blind or isn't looking hard enough.

I was joking. I dont think he is overrated. To be fair he never got the opptunity to fight other big names besides Margarito. I want him in the ring with Joel Julio, Carlos Quintana, or even Paul Williams to see what he does to those guys. He aint overrated in my eyes.

I can understand your basic feeling about this, but who is Cotto? Superman? Jesus? This is the sort of generic logic that made it possible for people to overlook the reality that Margarito was going to be entirely too much for Cotto. This concept that Cotto is just basically better than Cintron or whoever doesn't mean that he could come out with a victory. Every boxer is human, every boxer can be hurt. In particular, Cotto can be hurt, and is more vulnerable and less durable than most elite fighters out there.

Ultimately alot of would be great fighters ended up being unable to make the final grade because they couldn't take as much as they could dish out. We'll have to see how Cotto's story ends. Cintron isn't a good opponent for anyone who seems not to take damage especially well. It's not complicated. It's nothing fancy. That might be the reason you see people picking Cintron over Cotto. Common sense.

Yeah, Kermit is 0-2 against Margarito, but at least he took him on, which is more than you can say for several of the top 147 pounders. Styles make fights, so lets see what Cintron can do against the rest of the welter elite before we dig him a grave or shower him in glory.
