Why is Clottey Considered Dangerous to Pacquiao?

Any REAL WW is a dangerous foe for manny. B/c Manny really isn't a real WW. He can beat them, but the threat is definitley higher by facing men with natraully more size, weight and power. PAC does well b/c of the kind of fighter he is and the talent he possesses, but Any BIG or top WW can beat PAC if PAC isn't 100% focused.....or if they catch PAC clean.

 

Pac is definitely a WW now.

Clottey kept up with Cotto speed wise, who himself kept up with Mosley and Judah (as did Clottey as well).

Clottey is the first blown up welter weight that Pacquiao is facing. He has good skill, speed and ring IQ.

This is a middleweight that fights at welter, and it wont be an old oscar de la hoya he will be fighting.

Pacquaio's thing is his explosive flurry's from unorthodox angles that confuse his opponents. But he's open to be hit.

Clottey's accuracy and poise will have him landing, and I think landing more then people expect.

Clottey will be able to muscle and bully Pacquiao around in there, this will be no cakewalk for him sorry.

 

So very true! Malignaggi was a tough opponent a few weeks ago. The whole first page was full of Malignaggi praise and debate on how tough Paulie could be.

Well, considering that Malignaggi was considered tough by ******* standards just a few weeks ago, you're probably right. The Matthew Hatton thing is old. Mayweather wanted to fight in the UK and he mentioned it. *******s are blowing it way out of proportion since their boy wussed out of the fight.

Well Clottey is a BIG 147-pounder and an ELITE welterweight,so i see why people would consider him dangerous...but i agree i feel Manny will Dominate Clottey without too much trouble

1. much bigger than pacquiao. if the fight happens at full welter limit, clottey could come as big as 165 or more while pac stays around 148-149.
2. solid defence and fast hands. he has shown both these traits in the cotto fight and it would not make the fight easy for pacquiao unless pac delivers an absolute flawless performance.
3. hard chin and ability to absorb insane amount of damage. cotto was labeled weak-chinned by some but after 12 rounds, pac's fist was severely swelling due to the amount of punches delivered to cotto. what more with someone who has a granite one like clottey?

 

So who should Manny fight then?? Clottey is a huge WW that is reported to come in on fight night at 170lbs. After the MW fight fell through and with Mosley-Berto locked in, Arum committed to Pac fighting on March 13. Out of all the viable options to Manny, Clottey is clearly the most dangerous and credible opponent for Manny. Many thought he beat Cotto, even though he did not get the decision.

So who are you suggesting then?? Paulie?? Campbell?? Foreman??? Gimme a break. If those fights were made, you'd be making the same thread about what a joke of a fight those would be, and why Clottey WASN'T selected.
