he is given credit because as a fighter he has the biggest heart and he is one of the most gutsy guys to ever lace up gloves. He has fought everyone. If only Mayweather had Cotto's guts, then Floyd might be in the top 10 ATG list. Just to prove how much heart Cotto has he is going in to fight Margarito in a rematch in a fight he was beaten up badly. He fights everyone. He deserves a lot of credit and he has fought them all.

Since the body of your post seems to be in direct reference to Cotto's willingness to take on all comers I'll agree. If you're talking about Cotto in terms like that in regards to his in-ring performances I'll strongly disagree. Cotto has never been above retreating - I.E. - "running" in the face of danger. And it's not possible to regard any of this backpeddling exhibitions good strategy. He would have clinched and held Margarito in the late rounds of their first fight if he understood sound self protective strategy. His base instincts were to retreat when he felt compelled to do so.

I agree with you. I meant outside the ring he takes on all comers. inside he sometimes doesn't know how to deal with things when he is taking a beating. But he always gives guys a tough fight no matter what and signs to fight everyone. His guts are incredible. If only Floyd had Cotto's guts, he would have fought everyone and been an ATG now since I think Floyd has the skills to beat most fighters.

He's lost to Pacquiao, and in my opinion a bloke who had certain advantages in 38 fights. Overated? I dont think so

Cotto was overrated. I think most have an good idea of his strengths and limitations now. He's an awesome fighter to watch though when he's in the driver's seat.

I dunno bout overrated but for me he is my fave for a couple of reasons: Warrior, Heart, Awesum skillset n ability, humble nd modest. He seems a v likeable guy n 4me that's freaking A for a pro athlete...

ATG: prob nt n prob nt likely!
    HOF'er: 1st Ballot!
    P4Per: still Hell yeah!

Cotto is rated were he should be and sometimes underappreciated by bias fans like yourself. The guy fought who they put in front on him and never made any excuses. From his personal problems to fighting with an injure shoulder for almost four years and never making any excuses like so many other fighters do when they lose. Trust me Cotto has every reason to question both of his loses:D but has taken them and move on and currenty 154 champ.
