Why is David Haye being a twat ?

No, not a shockingly bad run of events, but if you stand back and look at the list of opponents, it's very weak. Why can't we do that? If you look at it in simple boxing terms, they're a poor list of opponents.

When you try to qualify it with the "circumstances behind it", those are the excuses I was talking about :tong

When you step back from all the BS associated with Haye and analyse the record in the cold light of day.... and it's below par, even in this era.

Sure he's made a few bob and created a group of rabid fans that can't see the wood for the trees. But as with Mayweather, the 2nd half of his boxing career is forgettable.

Compared to other British fighters like Hatton, Froch and probably Khan in a couple of years..... doesn't stack up.

At the end of the day you can't spout as much **** as he has and not expect people to pull you on it.

Doesnt help when none of the British media demand more from him, as opposed to just peddling whatever crap he comes out with as the truth.

I`m a fan of Haye and think now he has signed to fight Wlad people should get back behind him and get over the Harrisson fiasco.He always said it would be one sided and eveyone with half a brain knew it would be.

His antics have got abit tiring the last couple years with all the negotations with the klits and if he signed to fight Mormeck again or Rachmen i would of been done with him, but finaly the fight we all want is happening and he probaly is on ten times more money now then he would of been in 2009.At the end of the day he is fighting the number one heavyweight in the world in only his 6th heavyweight fight,on away turf not to shabby imo.

If he beats Wladimir it'll be his best career win by miles and would mean his HW career should be re-evaluated.

Doesn't make him a god all of a sudden. If he was to beat Wladimir again after that and clear out the division then he'd go down as a good HW.

Given that he's made it perfecty clear that he wants to call it quits in the near future it's not likely to happen.

Nor is he likely to beat Wlad. I'd want 4/1 to consider shoving a tenner on him. He's got no form over opponents of that size, skill and ability generally. It's just a case of "he's been chinned before....."

Given that I don't like him and do like Wlad, I hope for a Klitschko victory and expect to see one. If it goes the other way I'll be disappointed, just as I was when Froch lost to Kessler or Johanneson lost to Mitchell.

If Haye loses to Wlad, his resume will be judged to be worse than it really is, which is decent, but sparse and certainly not special. If Haye wins, his resume will be greatly improved, and his past fights will be viewed in a much more positive light.

Ultimately, Haye's antics have manouvered himself into a very high paying fight with the HW that most consider to be the best right now. It doesn't really matter that he didn't live up to his promise of clearing out the division if he wins this fight, but if he loses then he cleared nothing out and lost the only fight that really mattered. Quite a lot riding on this one, eh?

 

Yeah I am mate. I'm doing the same, need to weigh up how much I'm going to put on. Don't want to risk too much as I'm going on holiday a few days later but at the same time it's kind of one of those win:win situations. :think

 

Obviously you're not a boxing fan. But that's what happens in this sport. The fighters act up to promote the fight. You must have missed Wlad talking. He was at it just as much as Haye. All great entertainment imo.l

 

It's only a pantomime until the bell rings to start round 1. And only children get excited at pantomimes. Adults have a quiet indulgent laugh and then forget about it.

Haye has acted like a complete arse to get this fight. He got the fight, on pretty good terms too. He's acting like a complete arse to SELL the fight, and I think he's going to manage that, too.

He & Wlad are going to be very, very rich men in a few months. And that's mostly because Haye has acted like a complete arse in a pantomime.

I'm trying to understand why folks seem to have a problem with this.

 

He is selling the fight. I don't know him to comment on whether he is really a dick or just putting on a good show to sell the tickets and PPV.

Given how some guys have been so extra nice and tapping gloves every few seconds recently *cough cough* I am actually enjoying this change.

 

I hate all this "he won the mental battle" "he's getting under his skin" "he's cracking under the pressure" bollocks.

In very few cases do we see boxers apply any sort of psychology to their fights. While some of them are quite bright, I doubt many of them have the education or attitude to really analyse and exploit an opponent's mental state.

Both Haye and Wlad seem pretty excitable, but they're both very self-assured, intelligent men. I can't imagine either one getting distracted from their training.

And this fight is likely to be incredibly dull until one of them gets clipped. Wlad will be banking rounds by jabbing, Haye will be frustrating him and then either Wlad will get the timing right or Haye will spot an opening.

Cue maybe a round or two of bedlam and a stoppage which fans will likely complain about for years to come.
