I find it somewhat comical how several people think that outboxing DL is such a great accomplishment. DL was and is an exciting fighter to watch. Outside of that, his biggest accomplishment has been picking up a Vacant title in a fight against another lower tier fighter. When he stepped up against former 154 lb. past prime Rubio he got outsmarted, and KTFO. In his next fight he got completely outboxed by a journeyman. A few years later he picks up a paper title and loses it almost immediately. Now he loses to Saunders and this elevates Saunders to astronomical proportions by a few somehow? Lol I liked how BJ looked last night, but I'm keeping it real. Beating DL does not make him the best MW in boxing as some have suggested including cst80, that is beyond ridiculous. Lol
I think combine the fact that GGG is getting old with Saunder's dominant performance, you could make a case that between GGG, Canelo, Saunders, and Jacobs it's very close as to who is the best in the division. Ideally Saunder and Jacobs would fight around the same time as Canelo and GGG, and then the two winners would face off.
yeh hes a opportnist titlist really, bitpart. but you cant knock him winning that title. He was world class, no matter if he was near bottom of the world class group.
He was boosted the same way people NOW think that Gary Russell Jr. was good despite him fighting 24 straight bums before Lomachenko, its an attempt to boost a resume of a fighter that people like. Lemieux is a solid fighter at 160 no doubt but he got this reputation of killer right when he signed to fight Golovkin. Now by comparison between Sauders and Golovkin's beating of David I have to say that it was much more exciting to see Saunders do it. Maybe because I have a style bias I think so.
So was Charles Martin , he was World Class too by that definition. The fact that David NEVER, EVER, EVER, learned to defend against something as simple as a ****ing jab makes him lower than anything that world class. After that Golovkin fight he should have improved on that weakness but last night proved that Lemieux is lazy and is a one trick pony.
ha yeh but he is probably the lowest dredge on the bucket of world class. I mean, Martin was an opportunist too. He was happy to accept the role of fallguy so that Joshua could land a title - I think thats become obvious now.
Lemiux was a monster a few years back, but i think ggg beat the prime out of him, ive always said saunders was a top middleweight, and the 2nd best fighter at middle behind ggg. Now that ggg is older its a tossup fight between the 2.
cos he looks like a guy you would pass in the street. hes got a lot older looking recently - causal observation of irrelevance.
I don't see anyone overrating him. He is what he is, he's crude, reckless but bull strong and one of the biggest punchers in boxing. I don't recall ever seeing anyone say he was an elite boxer or very good boxer for that matter, but he is skilled to an extent and again his power can be the equaliser. @IsaL But I'd bet my last penny that if Lemieux had of won last night and was next up for Canelo you'd be singing a different tune about Mr Lemieux.
